Title: 1979 KX125 forks
Post by: TonkaF1 on July 10, 2013, 09:40:05 am
Hi there. I'm chasing a set of forks for my KX125. The KX forks that I got with the bike are off a 250 and are 3mm too big to go into the correct triple clamps. If anyone can help out, please call me on 0408911854. Thanks. Dave

Yeah, it's a big long story. The bike came with KDX forks and wheel fitted and a spare pair of KX forks. I got what I believe to be 79 KX 125 triple clamps(35.5mm), but the fork legs are the same size as my 250 forks (38.0mm). Plan A is to try and get the correct forks, if not, I will see if the 250 triple clamps and forks will fit, without it ending up as a Gumtree special.

Maybe something to keep in mind, I swapped my 79 KX250 triple clamps for '80 model KX250 or KX420, they bolted straight in, they have 10mm less offset, reducing the offset from 35mm to 25mm (10mm is a heap!!) giving more trail, the bike steers heaps better now.  Modern bikes are running about 20mm offset but with much steeper head angle.
