Title: yz 490 cylinder / head compatability

 i have a k barrell with a j head , seems overcompressed , is there any issues with head / barrell combo,s here ?

I'd be interested to know aswell. I got 84 490 (no head) so whats going to fit? Are they interchangable(both YZ and IT) .... someones gotta know something???

The best thing you both could do with the 490 bits,is take it to a scrap metal yard and dispose of them once and for all,they are the biggest pile of shit of a motorbike ever invented,go and buy a 85 cr 500 then you will see what i mean...Rubber neck..

why would u want to take a shot at me ??  i legitimatly asked for a pic of the maico , unused bikes exist , a nos 480 cr went up your way , from here in fact , pls don,t suck me into any of this online back stabbing , i have seen too often on forum sites ,

Kiwi 64, I am not an expert on Yamahas but I think that the '84 (L) & later 490s have 7 cylinder head studs , where the earlier models only had 6 .The cylinders also have a centre port exhaust from '84 on .I just sold a head & cylinder off a IT490L a few days ago . The guy who bought them only needed the cylinder . So I can try & find his number & see if he wants to sell the head , if you are interested.
