this had not moved at all at $10,000 USD - but now is $16,000USD!!!!!!
1984 RM500E--Brad Lackey Championship REPLICA -This was an excellent condition and low mileage 500E that we started with and then went 'berserk' on. This is a one-of-a-kind bike that can no longer be duplicated (due to engine internals--see below). NOS Ohlins rear shock, NOS DG pipe/silencer, ultra rare and expensive Simons UDX-60 inverted forks (rebuilt), NOS Twin-Air single-sided airbox looks brand new. Faithful replica of a full factory works Suzuki motor with polished/billet: rod, crank, works replica porting, clutch basket, titanium clutch plate bolts, all new 'ceramic coated' bearings in motor just like NASCAR race engines now use. In fact, Brad actually saw this engine dismantled and commented on how he had 'wished' that his full factory-works motors from 1982 had been as trick as this one is now! Brand new top-end too (1st over using NOS OEM Suzuki parts only). Professional tank coating/graphics/clear treatment renders tank totally impervious to fuel. I accidently left pre-mix in this tank for over a year after starting it, and there was absolutely NO bubbling/discoloration or ANYTHING that came through coatings. I really does look like a painted aluminum works tank, and it is a true work of art just by itself. Brand new Michelin tires/tubes. All new Magura controls. '84's were already pretty close replicas of Brad's works '82 bike straight from the factory, and then we built it to the full max. Newly rebuilt/powdercoated/polished/replated/ everything; nothing was left undone. A 'Custom Works' resto. Perfect, beautiful, none finer. Bike was started after completion and run through gears (to acknoledge proper operations), and then parked with near zero miles on restoration. $16,000.00

Nice bike, built by a really good man (Todd B) but Mike is clearly not in need of the money.
-
It's a nice bike but it's still only a nicely modified 500 RM. You can't ask works bike prices for home built hot rods, no matter how good they are and how much heart went into their construction. I'd reckon it to be an 8-10k bike.
-
Does anyone at all buy his bikes at those prices?? I've seen some of his stuff for sale over years and he still has is listed, most of them now with prices higher than originally asked :-\ Do folks here know "Arizona Mike" and/or what the thinking behind putting such massive prices on his bikes is?? Not slagging off, just honestly wondering what the strategy behind the seemingly enormous price tags is?
-
He has bumped up the prices ready for his "clearance " sale 50 % off all bikes July 1 till all sold
Cheers dave
-
Sale begins July 1st, 2013 and will end when ALL BIKES ARE GONE, or until I decide to end it. One month, one year; I haven't decided yet. When they're gone they're gone---I will not be replacing any bikes.

Arizona Mike is a continuing source of joy to me with his Factory Works bike claims and outlandishly bullshit descriptions of almost every bike he sells. He has an inside source on every Wheelsmith Works Maico that was ever made too. Spend a lazy half an hour reading his bike descriptions, especially his Maico section.....they're a hoot. I wouldn't buy a spark plug from him.
I love the description below which is worded to make you think that this is Jeff Wards ride from 1977. Methinks...Nah!!!

1977 RM125B --FMF--Package Racer REAL- Extremely cool bike with all of the original, vintage FMF pieces, and original (not reproduction) stickers from the day. Sponsored rider in '78 Jeff Ward ported cylinder (possibly by Emler himself), FMF porcupine head, Thor aluminum swingarm, vintage Works Performance shocks, mint condition FMF cone pipe, vintage Fox aluminum silencer, extra padded real FMF high seat, FMF brake backing plates, FMF modified forks, etc. Just like the DG YZ125D and '76 DG CR125 I also have for sale, this bike has not been 'put together' from a bunch of vintage parts. It's the real deal that has had a minor cosmetic, and full mechanical restoration back to all it's original glory. This is FMF's version with some true factory pieces. A must for any 125MX collection. $15,000.00 Ebay# 171046364022

So Dave, or Mike :-\ I guess at 50% of those prices some bikes end up looking not too bad of a prospect. Good luck with the sale.

From memory the DD one is the real deal, they were trying to fix a ignition problem on it so Brad could ride it.

I may be wrong but I've got a feeling the Diamond Dons bike might be a replica too...I can't see a works bike having Billet Innovations handlebar clamps and be so poorly prepared.
-
Yes indeed the DD bike is a modified 1983 RM 500D (production bike) with some Simons forks.
Thats not a RN82, men.

I think there are 3 or 4 Lackey replicas floating around the US. The one built by Todd B. is very trick (hand built billet con rod, etc...) and so is the one from Texas. The real bike is at Brad Lackey's house. He was able to track it down, in Europe and purchase it a few years back.
I think the tall seat on the RM125B is a give away that it wasn't raced by the "Flying Freckle". He does find a lot of trick parts to put on his bikes and they are desirable, but over-priced. If he priced them correctly all of them would sell rather quickly.
-
Neither of those bikes are anything like the factory 500 Lackey rode in '82, not even similar..
-
Jeff Ward raced a FMF 125 Suzuki in 78, the bike AZ mike has is a 77.
-
Your right Red, he finds some real trick parts and bikes but over prices everything to the point where he would sell very little.....I guess that the population of the USA is pretty big so he obviously thinks he will find a sucker for each bike.
-
He used to be called Idaho Mike. Now he's Arizona Mike. What state is next? Went to his house to pick up a bike to transport to Texas.
A very unlikable fellow to say the least!
-
The guys a complete tool.....buyer beware !

It seems the locals are pretty well across this guy!! :D :D Again though, if the prices drop by 50% on each bike it will make some of them pretty reasonable prospects. But i don't agree with the advertising that tries to (sneakily) imply bikes are "factory" or "works" bikes when they're easily proved not to be! >:( Still cool bikes though ;)

Buyer beware, Arizona Mike, he certainly did a number on me.

Go to his website and click on the top left corner about "liquidation sale" frommemory the Jeffward 77RM was a lot cheaper approx 1 month ago. I think he has inflated the prices a bit so he can give the discount of 50% from july 1st 2013...
Firko,
Note the ebay item number on the bottom of the description of the 77RM Jeff ward thing. in the ebay listing he makes no commitment whatsoever, read on..
Correct numbered frame & engine '77 Suzuki RM 125 B. Sold as a parts bike due to no title.
If you have any questions please feel free to call me Arizona Mike at 623-465-0636
Interesting story here. I purchased this bike many years ago from a guy who actually bought this bike in pieces from Donny Emler himself at the El Camino swap meet. Bike is complete along with an extremely rare FMF cylinder scribed 'For Ward' underneath the bottom fin.
This bike has ALL of the FMF pieces including Mototek CDI ignition, FMF swingarm, Works Performance shocks, FMF forks, air caps, FMF porcupine head, tall FMF seat w/original cover, gold DID 'wide' rims w/Yokohama knobbies, FMF coned pipe, and an EXTREMELY RARE MX-Fox RM aluminum silencer. All of the stickers you see on bike are original. Paint on tank is original. All plastic including opaque side & front number plates are original.
Bike was restored using all original pieces, blemishes and all, to maintain originality and correctness. This bike is super trick and incredible to look at.
It is not clear if the rest of the bike was Jeff Ward's or not as most records show Wardie riding for FMF in '78, but who knows???
This bike is absolutely beautiful and would be a showpiece in anyone's collection.
Please look at photos closely and ask any questions before buying. USE THE ZOOM FEATURE TO SEE BIKE CLOSE UP.
Call me for information regarding the running capability of this bike.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: This bike DOES NOT have a title.

All of these are Replica's....brad has his RM500 in his shed...he purchased it a few years back somewhere in Europe and bought it back to the states..
-
Jeff Ward and tall seats dont add up. Like most of this guys stuff its BS. I dont know how he finds people stupid enough to buy his stuff. He does have the knack of finding good bikes thou.
-
If only we could have access to all the trick parts he manages to find.....We could all have a "factory works" bike in our sheds ;D

What are the chances of obtaining a genuine 1976 or '77 C@J swingarm?

I'd say even odds....Jeff Cole has set up C&J Frames again and is doing a roaring trade.

Its interesting this replica stuff and the suckers that fall for it..
a certain 70's Bathurst car was recently purchased for a large sum.
a certain person who assisted in building the car in the 80's was contacted by the new owner who spruiked about the car for 20 minutes whilst unbeknown to him, the assistant builder was staring at the real car in his back yard....where it had been under a tarp for 30 +years.
Something was going to end badly there.....
-
Here's the Lackey bike, photographed in the AMA Museum "Motocross America" exhibition in 2008. I'd presume they'd have the real deal on show rather than a replica.

I don't really know what that means Walter. If a bike had history of genuinely being a championship entered, pro ridden example, wouldn't it then obviously be as good as it could be for its time?
I think ex works stuff is just awesome, particularly the factory sponsored hand made stuff.
Cheers, Grahame

THE Euro Market... that will be interesting to see if "austerity measures" have hit the biking dept.
look at the US, the place is in the toilet but Arizona mike has hit new heights with prices? amazing philosophy.
obviously doesn't need social security
