That's a bargain!!! Even when you could still buy them you would of paid more than that!! http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Kawasaki/Motorcycle/1983/KX500-A1+KX500/CYLINDER+HEAD-CYLINDER-REED+VALVE+%28%2784+A/parts.html shouldn't last long at that price mate ;) If i owned one I'd be heading to Ballarat tomorrow! ;D

Yeah Brendan, they are hard to find now. I bought it for a rough project bike which I have lost interest in building. I will probably get rid of the bike also.
I think that parts diagram you put a link up for maybe an 84 where mine is an 83.

Jerry, I'm sure you could make it fit with your talents ;D

I may be interested at some point in the future if you don't get any other bites.
Jerry's inquisitive nature doesn't count as a bite :D
(just got back from buying more important things from Ballarat, a water tank)

Here we go, a KDX175/500....make sure my airboxes are done before then.

But it's NEW, PERFECT, UNUSED and NEVER TAMPERED WITH! It's just not gonna get along with the other creatures there at "casa de Morris" !! :D ;)

The only way I ever got my KLX 250 to go any faster was to jack up the headlight and park a KX 420 underneath it.
In a desperate bid to gain more bottom end on my 175 I have been tempted to drag my 500 out of storage.
Airbox’s? I put them on hold cause I heard you had died ;D :D

Ha, yeah, won't be long before it will look like my water tank.

I'm still alive, it will take more than 501cc's of European metal to kill me.

No worries Geoff. you should have come round for a cuppa while you were in Ballarat, I'm only 30 seconds drive to two poly water tank manufacturers.
Regards Stan.

Would have liked to have dropped in but it was a rush trip for a secondhand tank.
Tank manufacturers nearby eh? Do you get ‘mates rates’ with them? :D

BUMP: any takers at $400 plus postage?
Stan.
-
Geez, I can't believe you haven't sold it for your initial price. When times get a bit better and people go back to throwing money around a little more freely as they were a few years back this will be worth a grand all day long.

Any idea if it will bolt to a KDX400 bottom-end?
-
No sorry John I have no idea but I wouldn't have thought so. I'm sure someone else on here will know.

Wouldn’t be any point if it did John, it would push you out of Evo and into pre 85.
Will you be needing any chambers soon Stan?

Ah good point geoff, although I don't know if just a later model cylinder would push me out? Same could be said to boring out to suit a KX420 piston?
-
Hey John, If you have the 400 bottom end I have an 84 cylinder which you can use to test out compatibility

Cylinder will be considered a major part so yes it will matter.
Internal mods are okay so you can bore it out to 600 if you can find the room

Cylinder is now sold. Thanks guys.
