Title: Painting Engine and Exhaust

Hi

moving through the tidying up of my kdx and the cases and exhaust look shabby.

As lm planning to ride l don't want a better than new job, l just want to do it to look newish.

l'll sand back the exhaust and paint, its easy to remove and not hard to repaint to tidy up when it needs it.

l will pull the engine out of the frame but wont be seperating parts.

What sort of prep should l do to the alloy so it looks good and wont peel off first ride.

There's a bit of flakey crud on the barrell and head that needs to come off first.

I used a satin etch primer black on the husky and its hung in well, it was already powdercoated so I just sanded it back where it was chipped, contact cleaned it and sprayed away.

I thought the dx was clean alloy cases? why don't you get them water blasted, will come up nice.

I used White Knight-Hi Temp from Bunnings on my RM pipe and silencer. It is holding ok so far. And John is right! You should keep the cases, cylinder and head as it is. It looks great.

lve not seen a brochure with the engine and cases not black.

lt looks like the barrell was once black but the cases dont look like they've ever had color on them.
