G'day fella's, I was looking at buying a set of forks from the US but the price they quoted me for the postage was US$116 which kind of kills the idea. Does this price sound right or are cheaper options available ?
Thanks, JED

forks hould be around $80-$100 depending on weight. you could ask them to refund actual postage but you would only save $16.
what forks are you after we might have some here in Au for you ?

I'm looking for 83 model CR250/480 forks to put on a 250 RZ. I have a set already but they're pretty well stuffed and need re-chroming so the US ones may have been an option if i could get them cheap enough. Any idea how much it costs to have a pair re-chromed ?
Cheers

The price for rechroming might vary a little, dia and length and how much chrome used, but I paid $240 for 35mm long travel Marzocchi's.
You could ask the seller to pull the forks apart and only send the legs if that is what you want/need. He can then sell the sliders to pay for his effort. I've done that once for a win win.

In the long run I'm probably better off getting the ones i have rechromed if i can't find a good pair locally. I will ask the seller about dismantling them for me anyway, just in case i can jag them cheap.
Thanks for the help.

chroming is usually around the $200 mark or a little under if you shop around. ive found that it usually costs the same for a pair of fork legs as a pair of shock shafts

Bike fork legs are around $250 TO $300 per pair, minicycle $200, shock shafts are around $60 each to hard chrome, they also straighten the forks during the chroming process, if you live in Sydney use DIAMOND HARD CHROMING at Enfield, about a 2 week turnaround.

That's who I dealt with and they were happy to deal with fiddly small orders. Watch their closing times though. They close about 4.00pm and earlier on Fridays.

I've been using Diamond Hard Chroming for a number of years and speak highly reccomend them. Theyre the best around and are always on time. They've got some fork legs of mine right now actually.
