Title: Google Earth
Post by: FAT-TOY on May 26, 2013, 08:58:08 pm
Anyone else having trouble with Google Earth?  For the last couple of days it wont let me zoom in on a property or go to street view, the bastard of a thing.  I have to do a pick up in Sydney soon, so I usually find the place on Google first, it just makes it easier to find if you know its the yellow house 3rd from the corner. Works for me.  So I was wondering if they have done another upgrade, the last one was a stuffup so this is probably another.

Google Earth is the coolest piece of software ever. And i've had the priviledge of playing with some pretty cool software ("nuke patient: yes/no", "Irradiate Brisbane? Are you sure?").

FT to answer your question: no. I last played with it on Sat evening but I'm not getting 3d buildings on my iPad!

the other option is www.nearmap.com.. I beleive there is a "casual use' button... just dial in the address in top left corner..off you go..also has histiorical images in the slide bar across the top of the screen... you can go back and have a look at the place depending on when they took pics..v useful here at Govt...

Mark I have a GPS but it is handy to be able to see what your destination looks like. On my last trip to Sydney I called in at a tool shop called Mc Jings on the Hume Hwy Yagoona and after seeing the building on google earth made it a lot easier to spot in pretty heavy traffic.
