Title: Insurance?
Post by: mainline on May 12, 2008, 09:26:03 pm
Just wondering how many of you out there are self employed, and how you handle the insurance (eg income protection and the like) combined with the bike racing.

It seems that if I rode an 1100cc road bike to work every day in peak hour traffic alonside a few hundred wankers in cars they'd happily cover me, but mention vintage motocross on a 125 once a month and they're not interested.

Can ask for the income protection insurance to exclude your VMX activities from the policy, they will still take your cash, same goes for life, TPD & trauma, ;)

As far as I am aware  , there is only one insurance company in Australia that will cover you on a racetrack
( apart from M.A 's insurance ) . They are called Combined Insurance & their toll free number is 1300300480 .
I have been insured with them for around 30 years & have made a few claims as a result of racing injuries.
They used to be called American Combined & would sign new customers up at race meetings .

Don't know for sure but you could try SPT Insurance in Sydney,

they've done PWC jetski race insurance for years, might do bike & rider too.

Thanks guys, 090 had told me about the American Combined mob, but I couldn't find them (because of the name change). I'll give them a whirl.

I not self employed. But I had income protection with Combined Insurance. When I broke my leg at Coff's last year I just handed in my claim form and they started paying no hassles.  :)  Darcy
