That's pretty cool. They were an italian engine?

Pretty sure that Hiro is Italian, used in a few trials bikes in the late 70s/early 80s.
Think I've read engine parts are not available for any amount of money

Spainish ?
From toofasttim and apparently good in wet conditions.Interesting connections these odd ball bikes. 8)
The Hiro powered bikes were the opposite, very popular and very successful. Steve Saunders won a UK championship on one and John Lampkin had considerable success in the world championship on one.

Hiro was an Italian engine producer owned by a guy named Mosconi. CCM, Penton and a number of Italian makes used the engine. My friend Clyde Williams in the USA owns a unique Hiro 250 powered Starracer short tracker. He recently put an ad up on vft.org trying to find out something about its history. One would think it'd have to be the only one in existence . Note the unusual location of the countershaft in relation to the crank centreline. I'd imagine it would allow for the mass weight of the engine to sit lower on the frame, making for better chassis dynamics.

I just found a Starracer framed shorttracker with a "Hiro" motor in it. I checked the motor mount areas for any sign of change & it looks un-altered. Any chance you could post this in your Information Wanted section & see if it could "ring any bells" from the experts with anymore input or information about it ? It appears to be past ridden in the mid-west based on the sponsor decals. Thanks again & Regards,
