Title: Happy Mothers Day!
Post by: Mick D on May 12, 2013, 07:26:23 pm
Sometimes I wonder about this privilege,
I know my dear old Ma has always played a big part ;D
My essence pushed billions out of the way
It was me who rode the winning sperm!

I walked, I fell on my knee
Then I ran and fell on my knee again
I turned me older sissy's roller skates into a skate board
 she nearly killed me,
   but my mum didn't

And then that shinny gold pushy, how good was that
even better with the heart of dads new Victa in it! He nearly killed me too
   but me mum didn't

And then I had proper Motorbikes,,,so like they do, the cops had to come
"you didn't tell 'em I here did ya? did ya Ma? Out the back window I went
I had to come back home but, them bloody motorbikes

Ooh me Knee! Ooh me Knee Ma!! Ooh me knee, She was still there
      Ma was always there
           She still is ;D

Heaps of people are important to me
its hard knowing who they are sometimes
why didn't you get a motorbike?
        but they are still important

Happy Mothers Day to 93 year old Edna Florence Firkin. We took her out for an Italian lunch today where she flirted mercilessly with the waiter and single handedly knocked over half of a bottle of Chianti. She's right now now trying to work out how to use the Espresso coffee machine we gave her and feeding Reg biscuits on the sly. The old dear keeps me smiling ;D.

Thanks Mick, it's just a quicky taken with the phone but it grabs the spirit of the old girl. She's still out in the kitchen pumping out machiato's on the new coffee machine....nobody's going to sleep tonight.

We nearly lost her about five years ago after he quack doctor overprescribed blood pressure medication which caused her to go into a catatonic  state for a number of weeks. We thought it was dementia but a young Indian rookie doctor at Mt Druitt hospital tried an experimental drug that was still under trial in the UK on her and within two days she was sitting up in bed reading a David Baldacci thriller as if nothing was wrong. She came out of hospital in better mental state than she'd been in years and she's still powering. She does Tai Chi and 'Pilates for Pensioners' every Monday, reads a book a week, does the Sydney Morning Herald cryptic crossword every day and although she now relies on her walker* gets around like a 70 year old.

* I fitted a set of classic Oury motocross grips to the walker before we went out today. 8)
