(Not VMX, but you'll cope... :D )
Not the prettiest bike around, but solid mechanically and definitely the cheapest big bore 2T you'll find.
Appears to be a fairly low-hour bike - was still on the original rear sprocket when I got it. Frame rails not dented, no flat spots in wheels, etc.
Six speed,
ADR compliance,
revalved suspension,
FMF Gnarly pipe,
Runs very well.
Auto-decomp head - is easier to kick over than a 200 (plus it is easy to clutch start if you stall it).
Approximately 50kms since bottom end rebuild. Top end wasn't done, and should be - bike starts easily and runs well, but you can hear the piston slap.
Pipe is dent-free, never repaired. Whipps pipe guard.
Muffler repacked ~50kms ago.
Only run on Motul oils since rebuild (Motul 800 + 98 octane fuel at 40:1).
Chain and sprockets are in very good used condition.
Suspension works amazingly well - easily the best USD Marzocchi 45s I've ridden on. RHS fork seal has a minor weep, new seals included.
Wheel and swing arm bearings in good condition with no slop. Some play in linkage bearings (not hammered).
Tyres are good - about 80%, maybe better.
Road gear all there, and all working except low beam part of the headlight bulb has blown.
Rear indicators are big clunky rego-only type, not fitted.
A pair of almost brand new, road-legal Michelin Comp MS tyres included.
Plastics are average. A new plastics kit from UFO is cheap.
Bike is ready to ride, with a clean air filter etc - strech your arms, throw rocks at your mates, all that sort of stuff.
Only selling to fund race car.
$1750, or make a close offer.
Bike is located in southern NSW, near Canberra.

Is there anybody near Newcastle that is racing at Canberra with room for another bike on the return trip home?
-
Worst bike i ever owned ,reliability nil!!!!
-
Seriously?! They can have a habit of eating stators, but they're pretty well bomb proof otherwise.
-
I've had a couple, been really good.

I don't like mine 98 wr360 goes ok but maybe I haven't got it setup right never comfortable riding it I'd swap it for a vmx vinduro bike no problems. :)

I've got a PE175 sitting here i cant get rid of!! :D :D
-
Yeah so do I but I need a big enough bike anything 250 or bigger.
-
If you said pe400 no dramas come on down. ;D
Ill put up my own topic in a sec.
-
Well I am more than Happy. At that price I could just set fire to it to stay warm ;D
But in actual fact, there are a hundred owners reviews and tests on the net. Until now they were unanimously very favorable.
The only unreliability issue being exactly as;
They can have a habit of eating stators, but they're pretty well bomb proof otherwise.
Very easily fixed with a "Super reliable" PowerDymano Which I am even more looking forward to for the stronger lighting circuit.

They are cheap too, given the euros poor value at the moment.

That is a broad statement, If your issues were anything more than failing stators?
Perhaps you would be happy to enlighten us on the issues you experienced?

I think opinions should be done by personal pm ;) baging the bike etc , I feel for the seller and buyer

I can bring it back to Sydney on Sunday and store it till you can pick it up Mick
-
Hey Frosty, while we have got you here mate, how would you rate the differences in power delivery as compared to your PE400?
Cheers.

Thank you Ted. I am trying to make it to Canberra, for a multi pronged attack(of sorts). I will know more of my chances by the end of the week. I will let you know if it all falls in a heap.

I am heading down to canberra with a mate , going in his wagon but he has a spare spot for a bike , but will have to ask him first.
if so it will end up in cessnock bit closer than sydney if that helps mickD

I am not bagging his or mine purely saying it doesn't suit me that is all and more than likely it is my fault how I have it set up or maybe a ktm300 etc still wouldn't suit me.
Mick the power delivery is good from the midrange up but down in low rpm is where mine seems to lacking a little where the pe is the other way round you have tons of low and midrange and fall off at the top end that is standard gearing both bikes mine is a 5 speed wr360 I like to cruise around low down a lot but fire trails etc where you have it strung out are fun and it will go up any hill you point it at.
I have got a powerdynamo kit for my latest 400 project mainly for the 12v lighting also have heard pretty good reviews and I nick off the cdi then.

I don't need your name mine is the yellow sub this is what I am replacing my wr360 with definitely not as refined as the wr360 but if it is anything like my other 400's it should be fun to ride and I know I like the bike before I started modifying it. ;D

Your bike looks the goods anyway let me know what it goes like when you get it is the 6 speed still the same gear ratios as the 5 does anyone know?

I'm all good - the bike is bloody great to ride. It's Mick's call now, but I reckon the nay-sayers could all be shut up very quickly by a five minute ride on it...
-
Nathan, I grabbed this Knowing your honesty of descriptions, thinking that I would turn the throttle and a quick buck. Your not kidding, this thing is a kick ass bargain, is off its freaking head.
Picked it from Glenn's joint last night. I ran a tank through it in the Myall Lakes Mountain Park area today, its a freaking Nanny goat ;D get over the front, it just loves to climb.
Although, I am glad I didn't fit a new rear fender before I went ::) A bit more throttle control needed :-\
Back on the trailer, did my responsibilities on the way home, got home, not off the trailer yet, had a feed, put the fender back in place, got the horn again, fueled it up again, took it to Kooragang (BHP slag-rock Island) and got back to base before the sun passed out.

That S12 Mitchy is now ready for cremation ::) but it was worth every penny ;D
I thought that I would be dripping in unfit sweat, that didn't happen? When I got the a feel and trust for it, I loosened my grip and relaxed. Found enjoyment in a rolling throttle, instead of stabbing at it ::)
I have changed my mind. I Don't Care, I Love It. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUrKdVMssWA) Its a keeper :D This is just what I needed, Lots of enthusiasm from a well set up ride Thank you Nathan
I put my hand on the ignition cover when I shut her down, faaaarrrrk, Hot Obviously the Usual source of ignition De-sintergration(for those who don't know any better),,,,,HEAT
I will get creative and drop that temperature dramatically, Reliability, here I come.
-
Nathan did me a great deal for paying instantly for this bike ;D

Anyhow, while having dinner at a good friends place one night, he told me he was with jack dancer.
He said he had decided not to have surgery,,,his line of thinking was "I'm not going through all that crap as well".
His wife and kids begged me to tell him more of what I thought about that :P I did. I didn't want to tear him down though,,,so I thought of Strategy two,,,,,,
I rode this Husky twice. I was gobbed smacked at how well Nathan had prepped it.
I put it on a trailer, took it to old mates place.
He said "what this?"
I wrote him a token receipt for Registration and said "here ya,,its yours mate",, "if you are going out you may as well have some fun and do it in a blaze of glory".
And I thought I would just get it back of his widow one day :'(
Anyhow, it appears I got through to him, he jumped through the hoop, out the other side, he is all good now,,
and I have never been so happy to be down a bike.
Its still a keeper, just someone else is keeping it ;D
Very Lucky husky I reckon,,,thanks for doing me a good deal Nathan.
Money isn't the meaning of life, thats for sure.
-
You really are a top bloke Micky. Good on ya. My shout at Cookardinia.
-
Nahh, just a Mick, Ted. But its still your shout mate ;D
I think I will try to get old mate to join us at Relfy's Gloucester Vinduro :)
-
Geeez,,,,that will mean I will have to give him a pre-85er as well :(
A weekend loaner,,,,that 'll do ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
If Relfy don't turn up to his own Vinduro he won't be needing a job. He'll be in hospital ;D
Bring your mate. I'd like to meet him.
-
Great story Mick. Your mate is lucky on a lot of counts. :)
-
Yes you will meet Pete Ted.
After posting that I thought I would give him a call.
As coincidence would have it, he saw the specialist again today, who once again gave him the thumbs up ;D
We grew up next door to each other,,,,,,,I was best man at his wedding.
This is Pete when we were kids, he was/is tall, a happy go lucky big man
(http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv132/mc125mick/Scan10094.jpg~original)

So we are going to catch up soon and put a plan in place to celebrate
Since we are both of the grog ::) well me spasmodically ;D
The celebration is going to go something like this
