Title: 2 Valve Jawa speedway bike
Post by: Husky500evo on May 03, 2013, 08:44:57 am
Watching the 2 valve Jawas running around at Broadford at the HBBB brought back some really good memories for me. I owned a couple of 2 valves and raced them at Pioneer Park speedway around about '82 & '83.  So I find myself dusting off and oiling up my old set of leathers (although they seem to have shrunk a fair bit  :D ;)) and I am on the look out for a 2 valve Jawa, to go and have a bit of a skid.

Mark have you considered getting a dirt track slider instead of a speedway bike? Although I'm not sure of the scene up where you reside, down here there are far more options available for a Hagon style bike.

Hi Firko. I hadn't really thought too much about a dirt track slider, as I suppose my interest in a 2 valve Jawa is just about revisiting my past experiences. Only recently though, I had a guy from Coffs Harbour tell me that I would be probably be better off with a Hagon, as having shocks on the back would make it more forgiving and easier to ride. The dirt track scene is also fairly strong around North Queensland, where I live. There is an NQ vintage dirt track meeting apparently being organised by Ron Single, that should be on in a few months time.

I ask as there have been a couple of Hagon 2V Jawas become available recently and once Vern Grayson's decided which one to go with I'm sure the remainder will still be available. They're all good bikes with good pro rider history too. Co-incidentally Ron Single rang me the other night to tell me the new Diamond Dons raffle will be up and running soon and as an aside he mentioned the dirt track coming up.

if you want you can run the hagon on the speedway track, done it here. You just have to not use the gears and put pipe/bar in instead of the shockers.  handles a bit funny but still good for a laugh.

Still cant get my head around the brake when on a DT track i keep kicking it into a lower gear and head for the fence....... idiot system :O)

it spins me out, particulary when you use the left and nothing really happens.... so you grab a foot full of right ...  :O)
