When I went to the 100th Anniversary of the Canterbury club in NZ a couple of years ago I met the guy who made this and other El Sabres. Sadly I don't recall his name but one of our Kiwi punters will surely know. While I've never seen this Metisse copy el Sabre, I have seen the B50 BSA powered version owned by Gavin Martini. That particular bike is based on 1972-3 Maico geometry and is as well made as any Cheney or Rickman I've seem. I'm not certain but with our confusing new rules for frames in pre 65, this might just be legal. It deserves to return to the Antipodes.

Mark, it would just have to be Alistair Sabiston from Christchurch. Another one of the good guys from down south. Used to make Sabiston sidecars for road use as well, as i recall, [maybe competition also]. Back in the old B33 on 'alky' days his bikes were always fast, as was he.
