Title: 1983 Yamaha IT250K
Post by: Tex on May 08, 2008, 11:10:55 am
Bike is in reasonable, and mostly original condition.

Bad points: Kick starter is starting to slip occasionally; rear mudguard is from a TT250 and the subframe/grabrail thingy has been cut off; back tyre is getting tired but still usable; chain & sprockets pretty stuffed (but still work); one fork seal is leaking; and fuel tap is also from a TT250.

Good points: Rec reg until Dec 2008 (75048); original sidepanels; original headlight; original muffler (not shown in pics); and has compliance plate if you wanted to fully restore and ride on the road (though most road gear is missing).

The bike has been very reliable. It's an ideal vinduro mount and is also eligible for Pre 85 & Pre 90 classes in VIPER. It could be ridden as is, or could be the basis for a restoration.

I'd like around $900 (neg) for it. I'd also consider a swap for a RM125T, YZ125G or similar evo motocrosser in similar (or better  ;)) condition.

Rec reg until Dec 2008

In what state? Does bike still have switchblock and wiring for the binkers?

if its got no switch block you can buy a aftermarket yamaha copy switch block which are quite good quality. i put them on on lots of bikes.

Internally I think. It's only happened a few times so far.

It's in a great state - Victoria! Sorry Quickie, switchblock and wiring for blinkers was gone when I got the bike. Speedo and speedo cable are also absent. You don't need those items for rec reg so I never bothered chasing them up.

Let me say that this IT250K is NOT "pristine", or the "best one you'll ever see". It could be ridden as is, but with a little bit of work could be made into quite a nice example. I haven't ridden it for 6 months, it probably needs brake shoes as well.
