Title: Flat Tracker Bikes
Post by: albrid-3 on April 09, 2013, 05:57:35 pm
Question, When building a flat tracker, can you use the front end from a speedway bike and 23 inch front wheel.

I wouldn't recomend it, a Speedway front end only has about 2" of travel and made to work on a very steep rake angle and are very light weight, depends on how much weight is pushing them.

when i did mine dave i fitted a 19" front wheel
with a 250/19"trials tyre best thing i ever did
a lot better than a 21" wheel with a knobby

Bumper, what make and model is that front tyre? I've been searching for a 19inch that isn't a full mx nobby!
How does the tyre run on the dirt track?

250 x 19 is a little small for tracks like Nepean / Barleigh Ranch
The 300x 19 Cheng Shin claw pattern or as I have suggested previously the IRC 300 x 19 knob really works good without cutting defiantly better than the K180 Dunlop.

The Kawasaki Looks great, ok, 23 inch is out, why the 19 inch, do standard fork need to be cut down shorter, or just leave them. kawasaki would be a good choice I was thinking a RD Yamaha twin, would a standard
frame be ok or to heavy.

You can get Mitas flat track tyres from Col Moody. I wouldn't bother with anything else. If they don't work at your track cut them a new pattern. Remember these are made for the purpose as a trials tyre is made for trials.

THE kwaka looks good Bumper where are you riding it?

Shinko makes a 19" trials, they are nice and soft and come in 110/90 19 and even though the size is the same they are a bit skinnier than the V rubber and also have a rounded profile ;)

Even the Shinko 110/90 Trials is way too big as a front tyre.
300 is the right size.
