It is also thought to be the first championship of any kind to be won by a DT1 Yamaha anywhere in the world. Bob raced VMX for at least 10 years and won a lot of races on CZs and a B44 Metisse. He's a complex and interesting character who'd talk Jamie Packer out of his millions if given half a chance ::).

"Splash" as he was known was a real character..a signwriter by trade.. drove a Fiat van with with a bike and a sidecar in it ..depending on how he was feeling... could signwrite upside down and back to front..no problem..
