Hi- Any one out there with big bore kit for 2005 husaberg 550 fe -- or now where said item can be purchased -- thx
-
Was a Husaberg dealer for 10 years, don't believe such a thing exists. You can buy a big bore kit for 650 though. Same 100mm bore for 450/550/650 stroke is different though. I did put a 13:1 compression 450 piston in a 550 (you have to do some machining), nice port work, carb etc. the thing was a rocket ship but still easy to ride.

I'll let let you now before you choose to have a dig a me like you did to the last person that doing so will get you no where!!

Call me that if it makes you feel good n superior, i like to think of myself more of someone who expects common courtesy, politeness and decency. I was taught that to be the way to go about about things and it's served me well up until now, i only ask of others what I am prepared to give. How you conduct your life is completely up to you.

Hmmm. Will we see another post in a day or two where the OP says "Hey look, I found a place that sells this! Great product and great service - I highly recommend them" with a link to a website?
Call me cynical if you want, but Rookie is GenY - he understands the internets better than us older folk, and has the forum's best record for troll sniffing.

I don't know where you got the idea that the 650 weighs a ton, if you look at the specs it has the same dry weight as the 550. That's why I went the 650. The bore is the same on the 550 as the 650 but the 550 has a slightly higher piston. You may be able to put the 650 crank and piston into your 550 but you would have to ask someone that knows. The later 650 is an actual 628cc.
Orangeberg on the Husaberg forum builds Husaberg engines in Orange NSW and knows a lot about them. He's also very helpful with advice.

That's why I went for the 650 as well, as the brochures show the same weight as the 550. No point taking a knife to a gun fight when you are going for a ride in the fast, open stuff ;D. With the low first gear in the 6 speed box, the 650 is still very nimble in the tight stuff as well, although it tends to boil the coolant easily if you ride in hot conditions without much air flowing through the radiator. I bought a PWR heavy duty radiator to try and overcome this on mine. I will be taking my 650 on a ride to Cape York in a month or so. I also bought a new FE570 with the factory radiator fan option, for riding more gnarly and slippery stuff. The 570, with its lay down engine design, seems to be able to find traction in places that other bikes struggle.
Bergs could possibly become more collectable soon, (especially the 570 being an iconic model ), because there are strong rumours that KTM will cease Husaberg production in 2014. As one of bosses at KTM now also owns the major share of Husqvarna, there is probably no need to own two of their competitors.

This is a link to a guy in the UK that makes big capacity Husaberg stuff, mainly for sidecars. He makes motors up to 1000cc, based around Husaberg motors, but I don't there would be too many original Berg parts used in his real big motors.

Can't put the 650 stuff in the 550 cases, the cylinderheight will be too short.
