Title: CZ Rear Wheel Offsets 1973
Post by: Husabergpete on March 25, 2013, 07:06:03 am
Gents can anyone help with the off sets for the back wheel on a 1973 model. It had a DID alloy rim on it but it is being replaced with a new Excel rim. the front had the original steel rim on it so that was easy to confirm, not sure I can trust what was done years ago when the DID was fitted.

Many thanks

Pete

ive rebilt a few cz wheels now and use an offset of 44mm, that is I put a straight edge right accross the brake drum and then measure from the edge to the outer most part of the rim.
hope this makes sense

I always measure both sides in general as different rims have different outer widths/ lips.

Brad and Stumpy,

Thanks for the info.  I put it together yesterday without checking this first. Typical.

The old DID rim was 77.52mm wide. The new Excel rim was 68.60mm wide. The original offset with the DID on the brake drum side was 42mm. I added about 4mm to that - being half the difference between the old an new rim.  I'll check it when the bike comes together completely. Easy enough to move the offset to 44mm.

Many thanks

Pete
