I'm going with 8 other old farts and some of them want to go to the England/ NZ cricket ffs.I'll look for a dentist that does root canal therapy an pain killer as an option.I 'vevgot a bucket list and that ain't on it!The sensible ones will find bars, bike shops maybe and generally have a good time.

Anyways the weather forecast is 9/ 12 deg C possible rain on Sunday. Better than yesterday's forecast, it called for 2 /3 degrees C Thursday, Friday.I believe Sunday is the rain date as well, so fingers crossed.

Chris Holder to come out fired up for mine.

Thats not the NZ champs you're going to Shaun, they were held in Christchurch earlier this year.
The title that is on the day after the SGP is the north island title which should have both the 1NZ & 2NZ outfits there from palmerston north, can't remember where the 3NZ came from but if they are from the south island they aren't allowed to enter unless they contract to a north island track
Should be a good weekend for you, any footage I've seen from Rosebank Rd has shown a well set up bike only track

Oh okay Tony still sounds like a better option than the cricket  ;D

The Pics I've seen from there look like it's an old school style speedway meeting so I am looking forward to it.

Cheers
Shaun

Heres some video of solos there earlier this year

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lyp4p6ShOhg

Pretty sure the track is the only bike only track in the north island, the south island has at least 2.
Western springs is normally a sprintcar & midget track, there is another track in auckland that runs the other classes
Solos aren't very big here anymore as most tracks are now clay based for sprintcars & saloons even though sprintcars have pretty much stopped running at most tracks in the north island, some tracks run a smaller track just for solos inside the main track but my local track has a rugby field in the middle so they use the main track when the class is run here. Sidecars don't seem to have the same issues with the clay based tracks & run 2 out of 3 meetings here with between 8 & 12 outfits most nights

Thanks Shaun,
We fly out Sunday so I don't know if we'll have time, but I'm with you - fork the cricket.
Go the Aussies,

Just back from NZ - Darcy Ward was on fire. He probably should have won the final but he fluffed the start in the semi and didn't make the final. This is heat 20 - best race of the meet IMO

He was flying and and gate 3 wasn't a good spot to start from, but he's got a big set of gonads. He got a standing ovation from the crowd after that heat.
Earlier, my young bloke and two nephews stood in line to get an Aussie flag signed but the signing only went for 15 mins and they missed out. We were at the pit wall a bit later and my nephew Mitch called out to Darcy. He came over and Mitch asked him if he would sign the flag. We didn't even have a pen, but he got one and signed the flag and my brother's cap. Unassuming and a good guy - had us all barracking for him the rest of the day.
BTW, Tai Wiffenden is another one to watch - he was quick as well.
