Title: NSW Vinduro June Long week end
Post by: HVA61 on March 18, 2013, 10:17:17 am: Speaking with other keen enduro /vinduro and MX organisers today.

We may just have another venue for the June long week -end.

The Manly Motor Cycle Club officials are keen on an alternate venue , so our officials will be OK.

Portable toilets etc , will be OK

Should have a YES or NO to the availability of the alternate venue by Wednesday.

At this stage , Keep the June long week-end free for Vinduro

Entry forms will be available on The Manly Warringah Motor Cycle Inc. website soon.

Canowindra is a new venue. The owners request is that we limit the event to 60 Riders for the first event to see how the land is affected.

There is an existing loop which we plan on extending and we will have a 12.0 to 15.0 Km course.

I have been informed that its good riding land , the existing course it full of sweeping corners and the land is undulating

I will be visiting the site to meet the land holders and check out the course very soon and will provide further advise.

This is great opportunity and this opportunity was brought to us by Greg Holmes , for those of you who know Greg , Greg is also the main driving force behind the Heaven VMX annual Canowndra cup which is a sensational event. So thanks to Greg for his support

To all riders interested that do not have a current competition license you will require a recreational licence. We can provide the Rec. license but will need to know prior to the event as we purchase the rec licences from MA.

Pre entry is our preference but you can enter on the day providing we have not reveived 60 pre-entires. If is enter on the day is available and require a rec. license but have not previously advised us of your intensions you will not have rec. license reserved for you therefore you will not be able to ride.

I will keep this page updated on the number of pre-entries received , but i must make it clear , once we reach 60 entries we will not be taking any more entries

Camping is available on site (from Friday afternoon June 7th. )(No riding until the event starts on saturday morning)

Portable toilets will be available

Canteen will be available

All rubbish must be removed when you pack up your camp site (NO exceptions)

Bring all your requirements for shelter , food and the fresh water you require for drinking.

Remember bikes must have headlights (no they don’t necessarily have to work) MX bikes with headlight fitted are very welcome.

Bikes must be fitted with reasonable silencers

Prior to entries being received if you wish to reserve a rec. licence , email me.

I expect if we purchase a rec. license and it is reserved for a particular individual and that individual is a no show, we would still expect payment for the license . as previously stated we are only purchasing enough licences for confirmed event entrants.

The event entry fee will be $60.00 which covers both days.
The rec. licence fee will be $30.00 which covers both days.

Prizes will be presented to the three best poker hands on Saturday

Prizes will be presented to the three best poker hands on Sunday

Yeah good luck with that Mark. These badass enduro guys eat, sleep and shit snow. Did you see Husky Pete in his 4 times oversized jacket he wore at the last Rockley. Now it's in Canowindra Holmesy will be riding in thongs and shorts and Shoey will get there a month earlier and collect all the wood from the surrounding district and set up base camp

Some makes and models of Trail and enduro bikes changed very little from 1984 to 1986.

I'm not saying every later bike between the years above will make the grade , our "PREFERENCE " is pre-85
"This not going to become a debate on whats eligible" , some one will be making the eligibilty decisions and thats me.

All the requirements for organising the event are well under way.

As Greg indicated , he will be visiting the property at Canowindra this week-end to check it all out and we will finalise any remaining items on my return.

Waiting for Shoey to come out and we will do final touches.It is a bit hard and rocky so a few extra psi in tyres.Hopefully we will get some rain in the week before the event as it can get a bit dusty but will be a fun weekend.Food and fuel and refreshments[we have three clubs and two pubs] are avalable in town ,also their is accomodation at the motel,pub or other places.Camping at track is fine from friday arvo.About a 1km drive up a dirt road to get their but wont be any hassle for cars trailers ect.It is very easy to find i will post details closer to event.Cherrs GREG....ps if you want to know anything just ask..

Above is the course as set out by our Greg Holmes. (fabulous job Greg)

Blue is a dirt access road that runs though or around part of the property.

Red is the course , including part use of the access road and the existing moto cross circuit

The course is approx. 15.0 km from start to finish.

i will be visiting the site on the week-end to finalise most details with Greg and the property owners.

Following my visit this week-end we will provide a detail set of instructions relating to the course / property location , a map with directions from Canowindra including a entry point to the property.

To date i have had a number of enquiries.

"Dust" yes it may be a little dusty as the district has received lower than average rain fall to date. (it may rain before the event it may not). Its a social poker run run / vinduro not a race so dust should not be a significant issue

"Fires" yes we can have fires , "BUT" they will be communal "probably three at most", preferably two and in a central location. (Selected by the organising team). This is at the request of the property owners .

I visited the site of the Canowindra June long week-end Vinduro.

Well well well , you guys are in for a real treat , this is a fabulous course full of pleasent suprises. Its a course for all riders and will be real hoot. Hats off to the guys for setting a tremendous course

Property owners Pete and Julie are fabulous people and behind the event 100%.

On Saturday morning from 8.00am breakfast is available , there will be Bacon and egg Rolls , coffee and tea forsale

All day Saturday there will be Tea , coffee , soft drinks and cake on sale

Saturday lunchtime there will be Sausage sandwiches , Steak sandwiches and assorted salad rolls on sale

On Sunday morning from 8.00am breakfast is available , there will be Bacon and egg Rolls , tea , coffee forsale

All day Sunday there will be Tea , coffee and cake on sale

Sunday lunchtime there will be Sausage sandwiches , Steak sandwiches and assorted salad rolls on sale

All proceeds go the local charity group , sports club etc.

So really the only meals you be required to bring for yourself will be your dinner both nites. remember bring all the water you will require for drinking and washing.

Saturday nite we will have offroad bike movies under the stars beside the fire

Camping available from early Friday afternoon

Its lining up to be another fabulous event.

Now Ted was feeling the cold and as we all sat around the fire

We will not be accepting ANY entries on the week end of the event as we have reached the number set out by the land owners. (So please do not turn up if you are not pre entered as it makes it extra ordinary for me to have to turn you away)

Follow the Mid Western Highway towards Cowra

Continue for about 58 km's and follow the signs , turn right towards Canowindra

Veer slightly left onto the Belubula Way and continue onto Canowindra for approx. 42km

When you reach Canowindra , turn right at Vinduro signs and proceed along turn at left at the next Vinduro signs at Longs Corner Road

Follow Longs Corner Road at a sensible speed at watch for the left turn into the event site

When you enter the site please proceed slowly and follow the signs.

Have a safe trip and see you there.

(IF you are coming from the opposite direction along longs corner road proceed at a sensible speed at watch for the right turn into the event site)

If you have Navman , tom tom or just a standard old map (like me) its very easy to find Longs Corner Road.

Canowindra Vintage Enduro Poker Run

2013 saw a new track and venue at ‘Broadview’, Canowindra for our Poker Run which was held on the June long weekend.

On arrival there was a hive of activity with Greg Holmes, Rob Shoemark and the property owner Peter Middleton and his sons preparing and marking out the loop and motocross track. By night fall most of it was complete. There were toilets, shower and a canteen on site which made a change. That night a large number of local riders arrived and there were even some from as far as Victoria and Queensland who had set up camp. It was no long, before they were around the communal fire and enjoying a beer and a chin-wag.

Saturday morning the boys put the finishing touches to the track while rider arrived or enjoyed a breakfast prepared by those that manned the canteen. There were 66 riders entered and after rider briefing there was a sighting lap, before the event was on its way. Conditions were great with the sun out with no dust as rain that fallen several days before. Riders rode all day completing their five laps to receive their 5 playing cards which was to be their Poker Hand. By the end of the day riders and bikes had had enough and prizes where hand out. That night a huge fire was made where riders could enjoy the warmth of the fire, drink as few tinys and watched DVD on a large screen.

Sunday saw an earlier start in the same weather conditions as day before. Again riders rode all day with some taking it easier as last night had taken its toll on some and at the end of the day prizes were handed out before most had packed up and made their way home.

In closing, it was a great new venue and event with riders enjoying the great weather and the track. We are hopping, that we will be able to return in the near future.

The Middleton family for the use of there property and to Greg ,Rodger and Rob for there hard work. A special thanks to Rodger for letting me ride his his little Honda KawasakI what a great bike! And also Fenando for the lap on his Husky auto riding that's like cheating great bike. Last of the boys from heaven thanks guy's always great to get away for a ride or a drink hope to see you at the next one. ps Denis great video.
