Post by: Wayne Bennie on March 13, 2013, 11:33:34 pm
Is a 74 RH frame and swing arm the same as a 74 RN frame. If not what are the differences ??
Info would be appreciated

Other than the seat base, what are the other differences? I was told not many.

Not fussed about 75 model. I have an 74 RN frame, swing arm, air box, rear guard, front wheel, RH triple clamps and a RH motor kicking around and was thinking of building something. From memory the RN front forks had a different OD between the top and bottom clamp. Was this the case with the 74 RH ? Any advise or ideas would be welcome.

RN and RH forks are the same. They are basically the same bikes but different capacities. The motors are interchangeable

Dave said that the works ones were alloy I'm pretty sure. Rh has the step in the forks.

Works as in DeCoster and Robert. Aussie RH and RN are the same bike except for engine capacity, just like RM250a RM370a

What would be the closest shape and dimension tank to the RH/ RN. There was a banged up one on US Ebay a while back Buy It Now for $700. In hind sight I should have bought it.

I reckon a TM400/250L tank and graphics would pull you out of the shit until you get a proper RH item. You don't want to have a bitza RH like our recent eBay bloke, these bikes deserve to be done properly.

Thanks fellas. It is never going to be right i know but something reasonably tasteful is better than the frame hanging in my shed since 1976. The motor is in a slider I raced in my youth and will be replaced with either a TM250 or 400
Tank fabrication sounds like the way to go. What I would give to have those skills.

That's for sure. The previous owner of mine had the tank made.
