Have you ever had that idea that seemed like an eureka moment . When the idea was so profound and genius in its simplicity and ease of manufacture ; only to be told by some friend you enthusiastically relayed all the details to ," Yeah mate, they've been around for years . p

Not quite the same thing but I've had several ideas* and seen them hit the market (and make a fortune) years later. But having once started an R&D company I'm quite happy that somebody else had went through all the bullshit and political stress involved.

*e.g. using a cellphone as an eftpos card.

I reckon the person that makes a standard house PowerPoint with a USB output in the center will be rich as (until the Chinese copy it)

For charging iPhone IPad go pro blackberry etc

That's my idea but no money!!!!!

Thats a great idea paul ;) you should of keep that to your self , the chinese have just read your post and have a five year old kid drawing the plans as we speak  :'( they are the copy experts

Is that along the same lines as taking something to the tip, having second thoughts just before you throw it  into the skip.  Then coming home and finding out it's collectible and pulling big money on ebay?

No crash, that's more of an ," OH,OH " moment ; which are funnier . Like when a mate of mine took the mirrors off his new trail bike . Only to throw them both, and break them , p

Went to my boss in the 70's and said " lets make this small wood chipper idea , I rekon they might sell".
He said " NA ".
40 years later I  reminded him of that and he says " yer I missed that one ".
