Title: SHOCK RETENTION
Post by: jerry on March 11, 2013, 11:49:51 am
A mate was telling me that the shocks on the works RH and RN Suzuki's were secured by a pin and circlip arrangement to save weight. Can any one confirm that? J

There were some detail pics in Dirt Bike a few years ago of Joels RH72 which showed the arrangement clearly.

But then we had to add weight to them to make them up to the FIM/AMA minimum weight limits.   Started with lead in the downtubes but that made them handle very badly and I guess everyone has seen the picture of Joel with a broken frame by the headset - that was on a weighted frame.   Replacing various Ti parts like axles and swingarm pivots helped a great deal and with one or two small parts replaced they just squeaked in.
