Thanks
-
good luck with that one ::) ;D ;D
-
I could have had one 15 years ago and I didn't want it,
Now I do,
Contemplating building one from scratch
So, close up photos would be nice
-
What size RM? The 84 125 & 250 have a single side airbox and the 500 has a dual side airbox.
-
Wanted Twin Air Brand Airbox for 1984 Suzuki RM
Doesn't matter what model,
1 x 125
1 x 250
1 x 500
My eldest Son was born in 1984 and we are building some trick 1984 RMs for him to race,
Yes the stock Airbox is fine but I want these bikes to be the best,
I have a water cooled RM 500 engine going into an 84 250 frame so the TwinAir is appropriate,
I remember being at the SUZUKI launch of the 84 models (Peter Wood from WMW fame wore a Honda Jacket).
-
So you want an airbox for a 84 250...Different frame to 81-83 250
I doubt twin air made an airbox for the 84 250 so you'll probably have to get the twin air for the 81-83 250 or 81-85 465/500 and make it fit.. If that makes sense

Watercooled RM500? Do tell!!

Quadzilla??

Quadzilla??
Been there tried that. You'd want to have very, very deep pockets, a bucketload of enthusiasm and a dump truck load of patience. Nonetheless, I'd really like to see one done.
-
If you a not in a hurry good old JESUSISLORDANDGOD on EBAY is getting some made up,
i have been watching them for ever.
Sent him an email the other week and reply was they will be between $250 and $300 and they are just working on the billet parts.
Ebay add http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/270950889523?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
cheers

Built it and a 550cc version for Jeff Leisk to ride the Motorcycle Masters at Eastern Creek in 1991
The 550 ran twin 28mm flat slide carbs developed by Suzuki Country Racing.
It was really really fast and was geared for 230 kph, only one problem that we didn't find on the Dyno was the vibration at that speed, Liesky hated it so he rode Steve Galls spare bike which I also owned and beat Steve with his spare bike.
I also lent the bike to one of Mladins friends to ride at Oran Park in 1993.

An average one with a cut out cover for US$999
Last one I saw was about UKĀ£60 but I didn't want one then now I do
Johnny O I am sure I have seen one for a 1984 RM125/250 but it might have been a works Airbox not Twin Air or WP.
I certainly remember the Twin Air sticker on the cover,
I will look through my library of RA RH and RN photos to see if I can find it.

Im assuming that when you refer to a RM500 water cooled engine your referencing an LT500R engine.
-
RM500 bottom end LT500 top end
Johnny O I found the photo it was a Goebors Works bike with the Twin Air sticker,
I will check with Sylvain he will know.
-
up to 1983 was the twin air box set up
they didnt make one for 84/85
that year model was a replica of the works RN suzuki
the frame is diff you wont fit a earlier twin air on the 84
standard box is perfect just cut the holes out and put wire on them same
as works bike ;)
-

There would be quite a lot of work in making them up.
Inner and outer covers, filter's,cage, intake boot, mounting brackets, etc ::)
Maybe I should start liquidating my stock pile :D
-
Originlal or Copy in any condition

Yes, it has been quite the project. However, the finished product should be outstanding.

This fella has a couple of spare boots
-
Ok I maybe captain obvious but why are they sort after. I know they look trick. But is there a performace advantage as well?
Did twin air only make suzuki airboxs? Surely the standard suzi item is not that bad
-
Yes there was a decent performance increase, the std double airbox was restrictive and the single sided Twinair let them breathe a lot better.
-
Thanks JO, did twin air only make suzuki airboxs for that reason then.
-
Pretty much Hoony..

Will you be making up the intake boots to suit the 125?

Suppose I'm still cut after my sample got sacrificed to make the moulds for the repo's for the 250/500 ;)
-
Frans the owner of Twin Air told me that the 125-500 used the same twin air single sided setup. He was the one that came up with the design.

Yeah they are all the same, but the 125 has a different shaped/smaller airboot to suit the 32mm carb. 250/500 has the 38mm carb.
-
Can anyone get me a picture of each of the boots? I have three different ones here that may all work.
-
Over to you Jas ;D
-
Yeah come on Jason stop your whining and help yourself ;)
-
So these are the two I have, what's the third style ??? Once you get to know me you will find out whining is one of my finer atributes :D(http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae230/dprojectalbum/DSCN1068_zps00d28d48.jpg) (http://s974.photobucket.com/user/dprojectalbum/media/DSCN1068_zps00d28d48.jpg.html)(http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae230/dprojectalbum/DSCN1067_zpsdadd943c.jpg) (http://s974.photobucket.com/user/dprojectalbum/media/DSCN1067_zpsdadd943c.jpg.html)

Hotfootmoto makes the top version according to their site, not cheap though & only listed as being for 81-83 RM125 twinair airbox

Your boot in the 2nd picture was their third and final style. Apparently guys didn't like the big box design that was in the first picture. We will be making the boot in your 2nd picture. Will be available for 125-500's.

The airboot I have is to suit a 125.But I am trying to locate that style to suit the 250/500.How far from completion would that be?
-
Looking like 2-3 weeks at the moment. Just waiting for the custom filters and bracket sets.
-
Was that 6 to 8 Weeks
Got to be close now since you are posting on other sites.
-
Took a little longer than expected. All parts will be in stock by the end of this week.
-
Thanks for the heads-up, DCPlasticsGuy. Any word on price? Forgive me if you have already advised, but I scanned through the above and couldn't see anything.
Cheers,
Geoff
-
Around 225 or 230 is the goal. Ready to bolt on.
-
Are you going to sell all the parts seperately?
I am sure a lot will need spare air boots and filters to suit.
-
Yes, all of the spare parts will be available as well.
-
Sounds good im up for one aswell
-
Just an update. We are fitting the box on a 1982 RM 250 tomorrow. Had to correct a few small unexpected things, but are well underway now. Should have pictures up by tomorrow. We'll have non vented and vented outer covers available. Don is also working on a matching cut down side panel.
-
Great, they are looking like being in demand
-
Great news!!
-
First prototype RM Full Floater Works Replica Single Side Airbox is a success. It fits snug and should do the trick. Will be ready to ship early next week. Available with or without the vents.

-
looks good
-
I think Black looks better
-
Will be available in yellow, black or translucent.
-
Hi DC plastics are the airboxes available now? Cheers Richo.
-
Had yet another delay on it. The air boot rubs on the shock spring, which could cause issues down the road. The mold for the air boot has to be modded slightly. Should have it fixed tonight.
-
Great news put me down for 2 please.1 black and 1 translucent, regards Richard.
-
Hi guys, the boxes are ready on our site and eBay.
-
Gday guys has anyone bought one of these airboxes and what do you think of them, is the quality good?
-
mate bought one recently - had a look at it - is not too shabby eh!
-
Been told that the side covers have to be trimmed to fit the airbox is this right. Not looking forward to modifying new Suzuki covers.
Zane
-
Yes you have to trim the LH side cover, have a look at pics of Goofs bike..
-
1. Hello, I'm newish here.
