Title: 250 H7
Post by: XC83 on March 01, 2013, 04:27:19 pm
My brothers almost complete H7 Montesa...just needs some decals and a few little things. It was going to be ridden this weekend at BIDDA Bidda Badabah Badabah in QLD, before the rains....
Not bad for a first go at it.

I just noticed that the swingarm tube section is the same as a 77 SWM. As is the shocker angle etc. Guess the Spaniards didn't mind copying a good design.

That is very very nice, I would not imagine it would too easy to source parts for one of them. Great job :o

I have the three different versions of the stickers for the H7 series. PM me your email and we may be able to work something out. I used the second version on mine.

When I ordered the shocks for my H7 it turns out that the rear geometry is the same as an '81 Maico (go figure)

They are a great bike to ride and I should never have sold mine :'(

Yes I put a lot of blood, sweat, tears (plenty) and money into mine and sold it without even really firing a shot on the thing.  :'(
I could say that I too regret selling it but I was too terrified of breaking something on it whereas the money I received from its sale bought something that gets flogged around an mx track on nearly a weekly basis. ;)

He got this one off ebay a while back, it didn't look anything like this...
The parts seemed readily available and after a false start with a Spanish Gentlemen that took his money but didn't send the parts (he got the money back through the bank) he managed to find a reputable supplier or 2. The parts are expensive compared to Husky bits.

Montynut, thanks for that. He's got some decals on the way, hopefully matching ones this time.

Still it looks good and I can't wait to thrash it around Conondale in May (I'm returning the favour).

Nice job on the resto, never ridden a Montessa before, what other bike would you compare it to ride/performance wise. I've had Bultaco's and still have Huskies and Maico's and a swag of Jappa bikes. I would be scared to ride it in fear of braking something.

Not that bad, Greg - it was Sep 14th when you were sending them "next week" ;) PM Sent mate.

XC83> Nice job he's done on it. Like him, this will be my first full-on resto. Fingers crossed, mine will be finished sooner, rather than later.
