Title: Masters of Motocross NZ
Post by: DJRacing on July 26, 2007, 08:51:44 pm
We are still all go for the 26 August. Nathan are ya gonna take TM's offer up? Hmmmm, could be along way to get the cup back if ya win ;D

Looking very likely. :)

Don't worry, I won't win! I think the only time I beat Bill at the Nats was when he broke his chain...  :D Even the time he "did a Shrek impersonation" I think he got back in front of me.

Though, I'm bringing my better half, and Bill hasn't responed since I asked him whether she'd cramp his nudie bar style too much, so maybe the offer's off?

Nathan I know you will understand this, but nothing 'cramps TM's style'  ;D. We were talking the other day and he said he was looking forward to you and your better half coming over. Dont worry about the nudie bars, coz are you sure he didnt mean nudie biking???

We raced in the North V's South like this and won hands down.....woops... I mean hands on the bars..woops... I mean we just rode hard.... Oh bugger.... will ya know what I mean anyway ;D

It was bloody funny riding the track like that and no one fell off but believe me the roost hurt like hell so yeah maybe it was chilly, or the 'chully' could have got hit with roost and then it would be chubby ;D

The Masters of Motocross is well and truly under way. We went and designed a track today and believe me when I say we have a 100 acre paddock to play in. The grass is about 4 inches long and the loamy soil is in prestine order. We marked out about half the track (2km) so far, with a couple of nice natural jumps and drop offs, some big sweepers and natural banked berms. Its looking good for the weekend ;D

Holy crap, 100 acres and 2k so far, are you doing 1 lap races? :D Sounds great btw.

Brad when I post the pictures up you will understand why we had to make the track BIG. When ya get a 100 acre paddock ta play in ya just cant help yourself ;D. We will probably look at 4 lap races but its not like on a true purpose built motocross track, no ruts, no man made stuff, just virgin grass.

Nathan sorry ya couldnt make it, maybe you shouldn't look at the pictures that I'll post up, but if you got my last PM you will understand why we say that Waverley soil is the best.

Here is a sample of Waverley dirt last year, Danny W on a YZ125N

This is the paddock that we raced the Masters of Motocross on. You can see most of the track except for way in the distance. And yes TMBill had a hard night on the piss but it must of payed off because he won the 125 Twinshock/Aircooled class. The paddock looks fairly flat but we managed to get some air time in a few different spots. The track was 2.9k long and took about 3:20sec per lap.

If you would like some more pics just say so. I will post a couple here for our vmx friends over the ditch.

Track looks like fast fun DJ, how many laps did you end up doing per race, more pics would be good, also how many bikes and riders turned out for this event,

Each class did 2 races of 3 laps and a final race of 4 laps, and then we had some all in races for the people who needed more. About 65-75 bikes where racing I think but we havnt done a final count. The last race was an All in beer race ;D

Wow DJ that looks like a TV ad for  things to do before you die. It reminds me of a mag feature years ago about a golf course in the states that was being subdivided before they carved it up they held a MX race on  it. You guys are really spoilt .How do ya feel Nathan knocking back a ride on that ?. Hey where are all the YZ's. I just spent 2 days bouncing around broadford dry ,dusty hardpack.

Hi ya YZhilly, sorry I wasnt able to get alot of pictures of YZs, but this picture (sorry about being out of focus) is my YZ125E (1 of the bikes Nathan could have ridden,  ;D sorry Nathan) and its being piloted by Astrid, and she came in 4th place overall in the Twinshock 125 class. She also rode my YZ125J......dont tell her, but we call her 'evil Astrid' coz she dont take any prisoners out on the race track ;D
(http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f65/djracingyz/MastersofMotocross07396.jpg)
There she is mixing it up in an all in race with 250 and open class bikes #73

Sigh... that is the sort of thing we DREAM about. I rode a grasstrack near here the other day and we thought it was pretty good. Tussocky dried out grass and rocky clay based soil, nothing like THAT! Maybe it's time for Aussies to start migrating TO NZ?

Nice pics, looks a brilliant event. Thanks for sharing. I think...
