Title: RM 125 project
Post by: TM BILL on February 23, 2013, 04:44:23 pm
I have approx 30+ unfinshed projects  ::) thats just bikes  ;D so whats the logical thing to do start another  ::)

Hopefully posting progress on here may motivate me to finish somthing for a change  :)

Plan is a pre 78 RM 125 , i know boring as batshit but the reality is i have a shed load of parts for these bikes . I was going to sell a lot of stuff off as parts but if i can build another bike and move it on at the end and get somone else out there involved thats got to be a good thing yes  ???

Hopfully it will free up some money so i can finish some other projects ( yeah right  ::))

If your a purist tune out now as it will be a mix match of parts and the odd 78 part may slip in there too  :o cos over here were a bit more liberal  ;)

I will dry build it first and then if budget allows strip and get painted , zinced etc

I will post pics of parts and progress as we go, seeing as most of the stuffs already in stock and i have no idea what it owes me i would be happy if you would put a value on each part as we go . Then at the end we can have a tally up and see what it owes (parts and out work only ) as labour is my own time , and see what it sells for and how much we have lost  ;D

I will list parts and photos as we go and you can copy and add a value should you feel inclined  :)

Dont be scared of offending me with values , as a black pom ive heard it all over the years

Ok i have set a budget of $AU1500.00 $NZ 1850.00  :) the bike above sold for $NZ 1500.00 but it would have cost $NZ400.00 to get it shipped to me so the budget is set .

As i said it will be a dry build and then if theres money left it can get a tart up .

I scored a low hr RM125B motor complete with carb, cdi, coil , gear lever, sprocket cover for $350.00 . Will pull the head and clutch cover and check wear , but it will probably only get a paint job and maybe a set of rings at this stage .

Blasted and cleaned up triples , will probably paint or powdercoat depending on budget .

Cleaned up fork lowers , but again will paint , powdercoat or reuse cleaned up yellow rubber fork boots .

Have ordered new fork seals , will srip the forks in my race RM 125B and replace a leaking seal . While their apart i will try to modify the PE internals to match the 125B internals . I have a stack of old rm forks so will see what we can match up .

Do need a pair of RM 125 B fork caps though  ;D will buy or trade if somone has some  :)

I could use these DG caps at a push

Because its in Pacific Peso's and not a currency of value it puts a different light on things...you kiwi's do have a sport thats low on numbers and that reflects on the value of your bikes/parts [cheap as chups lucky buggers]....now as long as you dont solicit for any sexual favors (keep Lizzie Taylor away unless he fronts with some NOS parts...then and only then you can watch him and maRc.com going at it......no pictures please....this is a family show). I guess your on the money, maybe a little cheep on some parts but then your there and I'm not....and I've been privvy too your parts warehouse tour so know you have alot in stock...I guess with write downs and depreciation your probably close too the mark....dont forget the $2 rattle cans, consumables, beer/tea/curry pies/chups/V/panadols ( when it get tuff), internet time, carbon tax, import tax, maori tax, GST and anything else you think you should be giving....hopefully it doesnt blow the buget. Look forward to the next eppisode...cheers.

Dearest Joan,
Thankyou for your lovely retort, and sadly no I wasnt able to make the mardi gras -where I believe you had a starring role as the gimp this year  ;D
For the record  if your reference points for Homosexual tendenacies are limp wristed behaviour, then I am afraid given your actions
over the last 12 months, you are the clear winner of the title of Camp Queer.

FYI it wasnt  me who fell asleep at the table, (after consuming two lemon lime and bitters)at  the Johnny Old prize giving but you!

Thread Hi-jack over.

Billy Boy .....mig weld a nut onto those threads next time , nut slips over thread and fill it up with rod.  Works every time ;)

That air boot will take about a week to soften up.

I have just done an audit and I have notice the prices you are posting are more in line with the resto ;D  keep up the good work.

Noel the brake fluid test sort of worked  ??? it has made the boot supple ( its usable now ) but not as supple as a new one .

I will try again with another boot in some fresh brake fluid over a 7 day period and report back .

Bill ... If it's rock hard when soak it , you will only get about 50% of it's softness back .
