Well i got the call i have been dreading today when my kids got home someone had broken into the shed .Lucky they only got one bike it was my daughters CR80. It has 1986 model engine in a Purple 1996 frame it has a late model back gaurd ,different colour red, Rear [url][(http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb130/yzhilly/EmmaBford08-3.jpg)/url]Suspension has been lowered ,1" nylon spacer on rear shock rod internal,Gold Alloy bars . I havent got the numbers at the moment but if anyone sees or hears anything about it .I want this back .I'm a little pissed off right now so i will sort it out tomorrow
-
Scum, sounds like younger ones .I will contact son Dan in Rosebud,to keep eyes and ears open he lives there now , as he sees a bit of the local young hoons near his residence Hilly . Not good at all. Tim
-
I hope you get the bike back Hilly and give the arseholes a good kicking.
-
Yes it would be nice to catch them and teach them about stealing someone's hard earned possesions . It's not a big buck bike but i have done a lot of work to make that fit my girls and she is mighty pissed off about someone stealing her pride and joy .
-
Not another one. >:(
Bad news Hilly. Sorry to hear it mate.
Good luck getting the bastards and getting that bike back.
-
Hilly. Sorry to hear yet another one knocked off. Big buck bike or not mate makes no difference mate. The scum have no right to take your stuff YOU WORKED HARD to purchase.
-
:'( sory to here about the bike hope you get it back in one bit and catch the pricks
-
Thats not good news Hilly ,beef up your security the shit bags would've had good look round i guess, as you know my gate got cut through last september with bolt cutters and the arsholes did get in,but could'nt get into garage.i know they will be back, just hope i can give'em the welcome party i've got planned
-
Yeah i have gone and double deadbolted all the gates and garage and yeah i cant believe that was all they took they even left my helmet on the ground in the backyard . I moved the CR last night and didnt chain it to another bike like usual and now i am worried about the rest
-
A decent sized mutt is great security. A good mastiff, bully or german shepherd would be more than enough. Any of you blokes have dogs?
-
They have there use's but i have too many kids to have a dog like that and my poor old cocker spaniel is still shook up after what happened today .
-
Yep, the kids are the downside with security dogs. I've got a little one on the way, it's going to be a good few years of constant supervision.
-
Hey Hilly,
This might sound like a weird idea but if you are freaking out about more bikes being knocked off you could try taking the back wheels out of em. A mate whose son's YZ80 got pinched does that with the rear wheel of the KTM450 the now young man rides and has done so with each Katoom they have owned since the arseholes took that YZ.
He figures (quite rightly) that it is a bastard taking a bike very far without it's rear wheel attached (he actually keeps the wheel under the bed, lol). And get all your good tools and riding gear inside the house for the next few months.
I hate thieves - they should all have their Jatz Crackers ripped out with a pair of visegrips !!! The younger the better before they breed more of their crap !!!
Just a thought,
Dave Mac
-
Sorry to hear as well Hilly. Pricks!
I'll be going back to removing wheels as well. Actually my bikes are usually in a million bits at any given time. I've probably been visited a few times by them and they've left in dispare......... :-X
-
Shit, sorry to hear that to Hilly. Emma must be very pissed off.
i suggest you go for a look around the local vacant land area's of Narre, my bet is it will be out getting ridden this weekend. sounds like locals to me.
-
sorry to hear this news Hilly. I'll have to keep tabs and a list of numbers and details of this 5 fingered property in my 'new' wallet I'd reckon so 1 can sus anything suspicious. DJ will tell you the dog thing works. We have littlies here and the dog loves them to pieces but strangers beware..things can get ugly in a nano second. I'm investing in some new locks today and the first thing to be hidden will be anything that can cut them ;)
-
I'm more than pissed off with these dicks. First Peters Husky and now Hillys daughters pride and joy. I've been broken into myself and was extremely "lucky" to only lose my tools and some parts. They tried to get two of my Maicos but were blocked by my wheelless Jag and my locked ute. Given a bit more time they would have moved the ute and succeeded. They had built a rough ramp from milk crates and my loading ramp to push the bikes over the top of the Jag but the barking dog next door must have spooked them. They were so close. Not only would I have lost at least two bikes, they would have rooted my precious Jag doing it.
I'd forgotten to lock the garage and earlier in the day had been working on the bikes with the door open for anybody to see in so I had made it pretty easy for them. The first and most obvious thing is to always make sure the shed is locked. Immobilise your bikes in some way (removing the wheels is a good start) and don't let passing traffic see inside. If the pricks really want something bad enough and if they are good at their "trade" they'll get what they want but we should do everything we can to make it harder for them.
-
Hilly, sorry to here about your daughter's bike being stolen, i know how you feel. I guess we just have to be more vigilant with security of our bikes. Peter
-
Doc your right about your dog, Myself and TMBill called around very late the night before we were going to the airport and "Buster" had us bailed up growling and barking, not even TMBill with his one liners was going to distract him from his duties. I have a dog myself and you know when someone is hanging around that shouldnt be, even though she would never bite or hurt anyone she does give warning barks that someone is there and that is enough for me to take a look or for my neighbours to take a glance over.
-
Sorry to hear about the little 80.hope its just down the road.
we have big black dogs, locks, insurance and great neighbours, who is to say this will stop them..
-
NOT MUCH DIFFERENT HERE IN THE USA---have had to resort to chaining the tm/rm/sl/collection as one big group--inside a locked covered window barn--with dog--now with my luck the damn barn will catch fire and the firemen will not have time to cut the chains---at least here we kinda know the problem (part of it)--the low life people that need to support their habits--but some one needs to buy this stolen stuff for the needed cash--and in my eyes they are just as guilty !!!--and this will happen to me while i am at work busting to keep my toys-!!! just does not seem fair..good luck in the recovery mission --buzzymx45
-
That's a bummer Hilly, you should consider a good dog, not all big dogs are vicious & untrustworthy.
Our own Neo-mastiff is gentle as with us but you wouldn't want to cross her.
A German Shepard pup can become good family-guard dogs
-
Yeah i had mastiff X hunting dogs no one ever tried them on . But after a rottwieler just missed tearing my daughters face as we were standing next to it .The grief is not worth it .My little spaniel would have barked her head off but nobody heard it or bothered looking . A sign of the times unfortunately.
-
YZ hilly , I have spread the word to our dealrs in your area . Because of the destroked shock it has to surface at some point somewhere to get lenghtened again. Cheers Walter
-
Sorry to hear of another theft, it just makes me realize how lucky & stupid I am as I have four bikes under the house that could be just wheeled down the driveway but I must admit the area I live has a very low crime rate as we never lock the house & at times take of for the day leaving the joint wide open, considering the value of some of the machines I have I think I'll take this as a warning & get a bit smarter Cheers
-
Thanks everyone ,and Bingil get a coated wire cable and lock em up . It's not a nice feeling to know the pricks have been in my shed .But the local detectives have contacted me and are on the case so hopefully we might be lucky .Good thinking walter thanks.
-
where do you get them cables hilly i think i better invest for the Red House!
-
Brad 090 had the best one i have seen it was about 3/4 " and plastic coated and the bike shops are selling them now . Or nobles on the south gippy highway in Dandy would make one ,not sure about the price . I had one given to me by a supplier unfortunately it had the other 10 bikes hooked up to it and not the CR
-
IF YOU WANT THE RUBBED COATED CABLE GO TO BUNNINGS THE BIKE STORES ARE DOUBLE THE PRICE
-
caps do bunnings have long ones to go through 4 bikes or so ?
-
ive got the second largest size and ive currently got enough to go round 3 bikes with enough slack to tie em to the back of the monaro
-
Bad news Hilly. Hope you get it back mate. Then hope you find the little pricks that took it. Obviously they haven't seen you or they would have thought twice ;)
-
No good hilly but i did tell you to chain 414 to the door of the shed
-
Hilly,
that sucks big time, one of my biggest fears in life is to get your pride and joy stolen. The shitheads who do such a thing should be slowly put to death, I feel really sad for your daughter and family, it sounds like the hills are a really bike family and I hope this doesn't destroy that,
all the best mate,
Macca
-
Sorry to hear about that Hilly or this theft going on is making me nervous I'm going to keep the shed door shut from now on. My uncle told me some years ago that when he bought his first house back in the early 60s he walked around the house with a shoot gun pumping rounds into the ground until the coppers came they had a chat for a while and then they left then he went to work up north for a while and told his wife not to tell anybody about were he was. by the time he came home the neighbourhood thought he was some bad ass prick he's never locked a door since and they still talk about him now :o .jimson
-
Dont worry Macca this wont deter us only set us back a little bit .
-
Here's a nice summary of the bike with a pic.
-
Thanks Greame if anyone would like to post a few of these flyers around the place ,might help track it down . thanks might be worth a try for Pete's Husky too.
-
Hi Guys,
For what's it's worth. Take the front wheel out, not the rear. Dave Mac noted to take the back wheel out, but heres my take on it. Its real easy, and now light cause there's no back wheel, to lift a bike with one arm and steer with the other. Try doing that same task with the front wheel out. Back wheel out means one person can shift the bike, front wheel out requires two people. If you want a cable, and you dont mind that it is not plastic coated, find you local cable supplier and have one made to length. I had an old winch cable from my Patrol Warn winch cut into 3 peices and they fitted loops/eyes at each end for $10 a loop. The only way that you will get through one of those cables is with an angle grinder or an oxy cutter. I dont have an oxy in the garage and i have an isolation switch for the garage power inside the house so they luck out in both cases. Take plenty of pictures of all profiles and get the numbers written down. I can just about guarantee the 50% or more of us would not be able to provide a clear photo and the eng/frame numbers if needed. And last but not least get an alarm fitted to the area linked to flood lights.
Whilst i have not be stiffed, i see/hear at least 1 a week though my part time job at the bike shop and i get the shivers each time.
-
Keep the faith hilly. One stolden bike has returned hopefully your daughters bike will find its way home as well.
-
Well boys i would like thanks everyone for the tips and help ,even local constaburlary have been ringing me regularly and it has been posted through the peter stevens network and local dealers thanks to Anthony at Powerhouse motorcycles but no luck yet . It was heartening to hear about pete's husky turning up so i keep the faith . thanks everyone.
-
I got my cable and locks through a bike shop. It would have to be 10 metres long . The plastic coating is a must as you cant help but drag the cable through the bikes.
-
what was the damage 090 ?
-
For the life of me i cant remember. Must be the KRAFT setting in. I can make inquiries early next week.
-
no don't worry Brad, i will look into it.
i better get onto it before i regret it.
-
Well still no luck with my CR80 yet ,But i found out the Prick also stole my blue MSR Gloves as i found on the weekend when i went riding the were missing from my gearbag . Keep a Eye and ear out boy's its' out there somewhere .!
-
Well i got my bike back .It's been a interesting evening ,But the bike is in my shed and i have the little pricks home address, mobile phone number and have had alook in his parents forken shed ,loaded with stolen goods , I'm waiting for the plods to contact me after they left me to get the bike alone . The engine is siezed solid . So if i dont hear from the cops by tomorrow i,m gonna extract some money out of this terd to fix it .So yah it's back but now i'm really pissed.
-
good on ya bikes back but unfortunate about the engine hope you get some cash from the prick to fix it
-
Congratulations the young daughter will be happy. ;D
I wouldn't bother gettin money from them, not worth your effort.
Just bomb there letter box
They will get whats due some day
-
Good to hear the bike is back Hilly, blown motor is a whole lot better than never seeing it again. With a bit of luck it`s not a major fix to get it mobile again, the knobjockey that borrowed it probably don`t even know it needs oil in the fuel. If it helps i can give you a chop out with the labour side of dis-assemble and re-assemble. Cheers Peter.
-
Thanks Peter , pm me your number and i will give you a call.
-
Its good to hear you've got the bike back Yzhilly. Sometimes its better to leave shit alone just let every body know where the little shit lives and what he does. one day someone will make him pay. If he knows you've got young ones. you allready know he is a low life cockhead.jimson
-
Bloody amazing Hilly, hope the donks not to badly damagaed, what about ya gloves?
-
Great news Hilly. Show yourself the little prick, let him take a good look at ya.... Big and mean ;D ;D let him know you beat his brains in if the repair bill is not fully covered in cash.. ;)
-
That shit hot news mate, if you need any help rebuilding the bike mate, let me know,
Macca
-
Good stuff Hilly...glad to see you got it back...Lucky you don`t live in NSW
F..k the chains...you have found the perfect deterrent....a 8 inch coach screw straight thru the f.kers skull and mount him to your shed door...perfect
-
Good and bad news I guess, mate.
But at least you have the bike back.
When you get it pulled down, let us know what parts you need and I reckon between the lot of us we could help out with finding what you need at a good price.
Keep us posted on how/if we can help with this.
-
All's well that ends well. The bike will get fixed but now I'm going to have nightmares about Ted Milat.
-
Great news Hilly. keep us posted we can al help out some how. keep us informed
-
Good news mate. Make sure he gets a good look at you. I'm sure he'll be throwing money at you after that and never darkening your door again.
I'd be interested to hear the story of how the cops left you to go and get it yourself :o :o.
Still riding like Michael Jacson ?? ;D ;D :P
-

-
