BMCC is having a Come and try day on the 3rd of March, so if you know someone who has not ridden vintage, and you feel they might want to have a try, then this is the day for them. Spread the word, let them know how much fun it is, and encourage them to give it a go!
Some bikes will be needed for the day, so bring that spare bike members, and share the experience of riding vintage, so that others are able to appreciate what a great sport this is! 8)
Please Note:There is no cost involved for those who come and try, however members who wish to ride on this day are still required to pay
Ladies and children under 16 are welcome to ride a modern dirt bike
16yrs and over are required to ride a vintage bike
Keep Smiling :)

Now Jackie, you're not saying that pre 90 isn't vintage now are you? Sounds like you're trying to pick a fight!

Why would two different (Brisbane based) clubs run the same sort of day on the same weekend? ???
Wouldnt it make sense to run concurrent weekends so that perspective new members can experience what both clubs have to offer?
-
Isn't it due to ma insurance? All club days are on the same weekend? Pretty sure qvmx is both days. If so Saturday at bidadabah and Sunday at Bmcc.
-
QVMX are having Sat and Sun, BMCC are Sun only. The dates where picked by MA, so nothing could be done about that. Its an inititive to get more/new people out there. The QVMX thread explains it better.
-
O.K. So its Big Brother calling the shots...Then you have the drama that some people cant get to the track on the Saturday & are forced to make a choice...
If M.A want to grow the product, surely they can arrange alternate weekends. Im not bashing M.A, im stating my thoughts on what may be a more beneficial result to recruit more riders & their families.
-
If MA picked same dates i guess that says it all - you pay them they feck up
-
I spent a few years racing speedway cars, & the promoters would deliberately run meetings on the same weekend just to stuff each other around. Very self destructive! Does nobody any good.
-
To be fair to MA the come & try day is an Aussie wide thing thats happening.
The clubs could also have organised for them both to be at the same venue maybe?
-
In a perfect would that would be the top option. Everyone wins!
-
the dates can be any time around the MA date. we are moving them azround in Sa due to fire bans, clipsal weekend and other club issue. So long as the come and try day permit is lodged now for a date around then there is no reason your can have any date around that propsed date. thats th ewhole point, get new people and old people back on the track.
-
It was an initiative from MA to provide a nation wide publicity campagne. If your club wanted take advantage of it all well and good. Didn't have to comply with respect to dates. MMCC have their come & try on Sunday the 24th of february, so that all you brisvegas folks can come up and have a run on the hallowed Action Park Dirt. (Trials tyre on the rear required).
-
Do MA charge for a permit for "come and try day"? or do they pay from charges they have collected from clubs,i guess that is what you pay them to do so they should pay to promote sport.

Looks like this has been cancelled due to the never ending rain

Which one? As far as I'm concerned the Broadford MX day is still happening.

Sorry for the confusion JO, the original post on this thread was by Jackie Mac and referred to the Brisbane MCC. That was the event I was referring to.
