Viper has introduced 2 recreation classes for 2013,
there will now be a senior and a junior rec. class. We have introduced these classes to cater for riders that are not keen to jump straight into racing but would enjoy being a part Viper and also to be able to ride at all of the Viper rounds and different tracks.
These classes are strictly non-competitive and will see you have a minimum of 3 ride sessions for the day, you will need to become a member of Viper for the year which is $70. Once you are a Viper member the standard entry fee is $60 per round and a rec. licence is also required per round, you can purchase a 1 year rec. licence thru the club which is $100 or you can purchase a 1 day rec. licence on the day for $25.
Please note these rec. licence fees are set by and go straight to M.V. and not the club. If you intend to do all 6 rounds it pays you to purchase a yearly rec. licence.
The juniors also need to become Viper members for the year which is $30, the entry fee and rec. licence fee is as above. Juniors will also get a minimum of 3 ride sessions for the day.
The rec. classes will not be using the starting gate, all riders will be set off by means of a flag as these are a riding class not a racing class. We believe these classes will be well received and in the long run will entice the new members to have a shot at racing once they are confident enough.
Regards Peter.

Fantastic idea! I've been saying for months now that both modern MX and roadracing must do the same.

Great idea guys. Newcomers can find jumping into a race scenario pretty intimidating, and a lot of the old guys just want a well prepped track to chug around on.
This will give those guys a chance to ride the same track that's been raced on all day and get a good feel for how the event runs without stressing about facing a gate full of nutters ;D
Great way to ease people into it and maybe coax a few into racing at later rounds.

Should be a good thing, just give it time to build.
I meet a few guys that are into restoring but don’t race. I try to encourage them to join the clubs and give it a go but some are reluctant to actually race as they don’t feel up to the pressures so this should be a good introduction for them.
It takes some time though for news of this sort of thing to reach people that aren’t normally in the loop.
