Title: New to YZ world Update Frame&Motor # added

Hello Yamaha people
Can i please get some help with this YZ 490 ?

I have a motor and the rest of the gear to get it running. I'll get the frame and motor numbers tonight, can you tell what year it is by the the pic ?
Are parts hard to find for the motor con rod,piston,sleve,all bearings and seals ?
Are there any things/issues to look for ?

Looks like an 88 model YZ goin off the tank stickers
but from 85 to 89 they were all the same i think.
Plenty of parts for them on ebay and your local Yammy dealer.

1989! I have a one with less than 10 original hours on it.

i thought 1988 was the last year of the YZ490?

Didn't super hunky say they had a special fuel mix? 3:1? Three parts sand one part cement?

Most parts still available except gearbox bits. NLA!

These gear box parts are harder to find than an honest polly!

Not sure if this model had 4 or 5 speed but both gears sets are rocking horse poo rare!

 Get up on the fuel tank and wind it on ,i had a K when i was a kid faaark good fun . cool bike  .
