Title: 1983/84 KX500 Kickstart Conversion

Rusty, John,
For the benefit of some ( mostly me  ;D ) what parts listed below do I need to convert my 83 kickstarter over from the 2000 model, or thereabouts. Bumper and I know it can be done and its guaranteed we"ll need the shaft and the kicker itself, but what else do we need?

Hi Bahnzy, I have done the conversion on mine and all you really need is the shaft. I believe the gear and associated parts all fit on the newer shaft. Myself, well I just bought an 85 model shaft complete with all parts for about $20 and it goes straight in.
