At Classic Dirt 9 in Wallawerang last September, we took a pause
from talking about the clothes-less barmaids in town the arvo before, and I
congratulated Victorian Mark CHRISTOPHER for having
owned - since new - the 1979 KX250 he was using there.
(He and several others ride this loyal workhorse quite a lot.)
Mark had traveled up with Honda-head Andy MARSHALL, who was next
to me when I spoke. He went to his glove-box, and returned with the original
sales receipt for one of his Elsinores that he had there on the day. And the
salesman on the document was an A-grade motocrosser back in the day it was signed.
Still got it? I'd call that a Double-Got!

TY175B bought in 1976

1975 Kawasaki KT250
1978 Husqvarna 390AMX
Both bought new in there respective years.
1979/80 Bultaco 350 sherpa T, Model 199A, my 21st birthday present from the parents.
In amongst my collection of 500 Yamahas, I still have my first 1978 SR500E, bought 2nd hand in 1980. I sold it to my youngest brothers best mate in 1987, then the brother bought it from him and I stole it back from the brother in 1992 while I was in the Navy in Sydney and was after a bike to get around town on.
My two elder brothers are twins and I have the wrecks/remains following bikes of theirs in my shed, and as possesion in 9/10th they are now mine;
TY250B ( he bought new in 1975 and gave it to me for my 50th)
RT2 - 360 Yamaha (bought 2nd hand in 1976)
2 x DT100A's both brother bought one each new in 1974

Well my storys about minibikes, i still have my Honda Dax owned since 1972 and it still goes. But the one closest to my heart is my 1975 k2 xr75. My dad counter levered it with a bilstein single shock in october in 1975 filled the motor with PK racing products from my sponsor (Fury Racing Equip.) and with other mods like 24mm amal carb, megaphone exhaust my dad made and then won the Honda National Titles outright at Wallan Nov. 1975. Now later the next year i sold it much to my dads disgust as he said i should keep it forever and i only realised later in life i should have. Well 2 1/2 years ago i got it back. It was like winning tattslotto to get it back. Not the same bike, as it was abused but still had the monoshock rear end and bilstein shock, some of the PK stuff like Crank and Head etc. and the handle bars that were solid alloy with no cross bar. Well the best part of the story is it is being restored by a good mate you all know Darren Cheney God bless him. He wanted to do it so one day in the future i will post a photo of the finished resto. Anyway the best part of the story is getting back something i should have never sold.... Regards Les :) :) :)

G'day Les, how about posting up a before shot as you got it back after so many years

I purchased my Dot back in 1969 for $280 it was 3 years old by that time. I have sold it twice since then and got it back again both times. It's in its 47th year now and it will stay here now at least until I'm gone.

Hi all,
I still have and ride my 1981 xl500s. This bike lived outside for the first 20years of it's life ridden to work every day the out in the scrub on the weekend's,the most reliable bike ever rain , shine or cyclone start up first kick and run all day. It has had a few rebuilds over the year's and is now ridden 3-4 times a week in the forest around here whenever I can get an hour or few to spare. I would love to find my Ossa SDR that I bought new in 1973 on the Gold coast.
Regards Rod.
