Title: Sea Lake Mallee Rally
Post by: TC91 on April 29, 2008, 09:59:11 pm
We have just dug out the programs from 1978,1982,1984,& 1990, the advertised flyer from 1990 and official results and lap times for all riders in 1988. A big box of photos ( some vary interesting styles) and a list of outright winners from 1973 to 1988. the first outright winner was one B J Clarke on a Bultaco, fancy that!

Hi ya TC
I'm keen on the list of outright winners.
Also, did you find out if a program was ever printed for 1989?
Thanks
Tony
PS thanks for going to the trouble of digging this info out.  ;D

Outright winners were 1973-Brian Clarke: Bultaco, 1974 & 1975-Graham Smith: Bultaco, 1976 & 1977-Robert Bate:Suzuki, 1978-Bernie Ryan: Yamaha, 1979-Robert bate:Suzuki, 1980 & 1981-Ken Hartney, Suzuki & Kawasaki, 1982-Rod Sharp:KTM, 1984-Mike Landman:Yamaha, 1985-Cesare Del Farra:Suzuki, 1988-Bruce Bolton:KTM, 1990 is not listed in these results but I seem to recall Cesare Del Farra on a Honda 500. Dad hasn't yet been able to find a 1989 program as yet only the advertising flyer.

While looking for something else I found my 79 programme, isn't that always the way.
I thought this page interesting.
I wasn't aware that Jeff Smith rode there, & I think it would have been the really wet year.

Regarding Jeff Smith, dad told me an interesting story about him riding that day, ask me at the next race meeting you see me at and I'll tell you. Also some useless information, that picture of dad on his Bultaco   is taken over the Bendigo end jump and is the exact same bike that I rode at Ravo at the weekend. I think I saw someone with a camera down that way at one stage but I was a little too busy trying to stay in control at the time to notice who it was. It would be an interesting photo  though.
