does anyone know if there is an aussie agent for PVL Ignitions? is it Mainly Maico?
i can get one through AMS Racing in the USA, just wanted to explore options.
yes still having trouble with the 500, long story and i am not happy so i don't want to discuss the long winded tale. i towed the bike for 1.5 hours last weekend after i started it each day the 2 days before only to find it did a big backfire and no spark after that at all. it was towed back home without a run at all, to make matters worse its cost some bucks.

The difference between an aussie supplier and AMS racing is about $300, and AMS will only take about 10 days

Mainly Maico , they are local and support VMX . They also stock them and look after you after they sold them. ;) ;) ;) ;)

both Valid Points guys but like CG says $300 more and maybe an extra week or two from local supplier is not attractive at all.
Cyclegod, who is the aussie agent then? PM me if you like. i have to go though the motions even though you have done this already with your unit. i have another option i am exploring called a HPI (horse power ignition) from europe.

Perhaps give Les a call , I dont believe the difference is that great as some people make it out to be .(we only discussed this the other day).I am not sure whats init for those people to constantly avoid local suppliers. His number is 0249817241.

We where talking about this on the weekend and you just have to push the local bike shop to a lower price and remind him about the US market.
Many are trying to make the extra dollars on top of.
But we need to have a good chat with our local bike shop reps.
Some are shooting them selves in the foot.
One vmxer got two rims for the price of one in US.
Try and shop local as much as ya can. 8)

Hoony , I have a lovlely little story about something similar . A man rang me about some YSS shocks , but told me he can get the same YSS out of the states $120.00 cheaper . (Actually he paid $76.00 in freight) And so he did. When he got them the springs where to hard . He rang me and said he would like to swap for softer springs . I told him , he could buy softer springs from me , that was not what he hade in mind . He stressed the point that I should swap them FOC since I was involved direct with factory and he would go on his favourite forum about that matter. I then got my back up and stressed the point that he should send his shocks where he bought them from and they would exchange them Free of charge if the wishes . We already noticed people buying certain model shocks from us in huge numbers at a bulk or OEM price and then sell them via the net with no back up. I know its unfair but what can we do ? I just hope the consumers are smart enough to work it out in the long run.

Doesn't everyone prefer to buy local, VMX or otherwise? Seriously, who doesn't buy locally if it's a better deal?
I'm a very patriotic fella and there was a time when I had the 'Ausbuy Guide' in my hand when I did the grocery shopping. However, if Aussie cheese costs $3 more for a one kilo block I'll probably opt for the 'foreign' brand.
I'd prefer not to but it all adds up.
And CGs $300 example is hard to knock back if the product is the same.

Just spoke to Les today , and he assures me the price is the same as in US . Perhaps some people pay to much out the USA ? What was your outcome Hoony ?

i figure about $40 more from Les than the US supplier, Les is most helpful so i'm going to order this from Him, as i get local support and back up and that's more than worth the $40 to me.
i was up front with the amount i was quoted for the same item from the usa supplier with him and he said no worries and gave me his price. i am after some tech info from him and he said he will ring his supplier tomorrow and get back to me.

Reading this reply made me think about how business works. While I would have replied similarly after the prick brought up posting on his favorite forum, I have another way of looking at it. You chose to sell in bulk, at a discounted price, to a supplier in the U.S. Did you make sure that the U.S. supplier would offer different spring rates and knowledgable advice to customers before supplying them? Did you sell to this supplier hoping he would never sell his stock of shocks? I mean as a U.S. customer would I have to call back to Oz to order springs or ship my shocks back to get a re-valve?
I don't know if you did this, but knowing the "prick" had bought a product of yours, sold by you, by proxy, did you offer to give him a discount/trade-in value on his springs and then charge him for the right springs?
I would assume you mentioned to him what his extra $50 would be buying him (advice and local service). I hope I took this wrong and you bent over backwards until he showed how much of a prick he was. Or maybe you knew that after the first phone call. ;)

The problem is a bit more complicated than that . As you know YSS does not make specific roadrace shocks in small numbers (or VMX shocks ) for that matter . Any race shock has to be handbuilt by YSS Australia or YSS Europe and is taylormade to suit the rider or bike . Therefore prices or look may vary from our standard road shocks. Since the supplier in USA is specialised in BM , he bought a big number of BM shocks. The customer thought , the lenght is right , the brand is well known , " Voila I have a cheap race shock for my Z 900". The supplier in USA has done nothing wrong , since the shocks where advertised on his website as BM street shocks . If he would have ordered the proper race shocks and paid the price here or in the US ,( his original enquiry with us was for Z 900 race shocks ) he would not have any problems and a spring change free of charge or trade in would be offred. I only told this story to show the possible implications when buying overseas to supposively save a few Dollars. Mainly Maico and other enthusiasts ( yes I would could them enthusiasts , not buisiness), stick their neck out to stock and backup hard to get items for fellow VMX ers only to get shot at, by keyboard happy "know alls". I am aware that when you send a parcel from US that you dont have to pay GST and the goods where sent tax exempt. So there is a 10% gap disadvantage straight away for the local outlet.. I actually checked the prices for this ignation and the real gap is only a few Dollars , not $300 as stated previosly by somebody on this site. Like every journalist knows , check and double check before you print and dont destroy somebodys integrity with or without intention. ;) ;)

It just seemed like part of the story was missing. I have read many of your helpful posts and I'm very interested in your products. You come across as very knowledgable person with a quality product. I also know how it is to deal with difficult customers. Thanks for letting me in on the whole story. ;)
