Trying to buy a wheel for one of my bikes off ebay UK. When I asked the seller about postage to Australia he informed me that ebay won't let him sell overseas. To me this sounds like more bullshit from another seller who can't be bothered getting a price and filling out a form. Pain in the arse because the wheel is a hard to find item. I have a mate over there so I'll see if he will accept my bids and then if I win send it to him and then have it sent on.

Yep it's BS. Happens often. It is selectable in the shipping options when a seller sets up the listing.
FWD it to your mate in UK, or have your mate actually purchase it on your behalf. At least that way you know the seller isn't going to totally rip you raw on the shipping. :)
I have a great contact in the USA for forwarding on parts and he is more than happy to do it without ripping you off... but I dont have one in the UK unfortunately.

Yes some people are ignorant or just lazy. To many its just a business and not a hobby.
Just had a seller try to cancel a purchase when I asked him to ship to Australia. Gave me a story that eBay charges extra fees and insurance and they have to stand in line at the post office to fill out forms if they sell to overseas buyers. Oh and it is a 100 mile drive to go to the post office to get a shipping price.
I rejected the eBay request to cancel only to find he had relisted the part already. Sent him a message to honor the transaction and told him to ship to my sister in Californa. He agreed and said this happens to him every week. So why doesn't he block international bidders or say he will not ship overseas. Trying to cancel the sale is unAustralian!
You can use US services to send your stuff to if you don't have a contact in US. Likely to be similar services in UK also.

I recently had two sellers cancel on the same day because they didn't want to ship to Australia. One was quite nice and explained that she was handicapped and needed to wait until the weekend for her daughter to come around to pick up her ebay shipments and take them to the post office. She told me that she'd under valued shipping to Oz before so needed to get the correct price from the P.O., putting the deal in the too hard basket. When I told her that it might be a good idea to block foreign bids she replied that she didn't know she could. She was fairly new to eBay so I didn't make a fuss and explained how to do it to her. She might have been bullshitting me but I gave her the benefit of the doubt purely because she was nice about it. The second seller had already sent me an invoice and I'd paid by PayPal when he emailed me back to say that the shipping price was for local only (bullshit) and that he hadn't noticed that I was in Australia until after invoicing me (bullshit again). When I advised him that if he wasn't going to sell offshore he might consider blocking overseas bids he replied that he'd do no such thing and wouldn't be dictated to over a $5 sale. I promptly gave him a negative feedback before he cancelled the transaction. Fluck him

Yep Firko - I have also had similar experiences. As I am sure lots of us have. :-\
Thankfully though - most eBay sellers are good for Int'l shipping and look after us Aussies. :)
If anyone needs anything shipped from the US, my mate in Arizona Jim Provine has served me for well over a decade now and he is always happy to help anyone out if they are stuck. He has even clicked on the BUY IT NOW button on my behalf and sent it to me! ;D
(this is great for listed items that dont allow international people even clicking on the purchase button)
I have referred many to him in the past and he only charges a very small 'service fee' and also you pay ACTUAL SHIPPING ! :o
If anyone needs to use his services (this might even work for you Zane?), he is contactable on email :

Thanks Hardo but I just got off the phone to Bob in England and if I win this item I can have it sent to him and he will forward it to me, then I will refund his costs. He might even be able to pick it up from the seller, he only lives 10 miles away. I know 10 miles is a long way for a lot of poms but nothing seems to be a problem to this bloke.

Just recieved this reply from the seller to my question about posting goods to an address in the UK.
(Quote)
(Hi mate
to post to the address will be same as written on the listing. But ebay wont let me accept bids from abroad due to their new settings (id have to pay £300 odd to set up international trading) so perhaps your friend can bid for you.
many apologies)
Why do we deal, or even talk to these wankers. Nearly every time I have purchased from the UK there is a drama. The problem is they alway seem to have the bits you need. Anyway looks like I can't get this one, my mate doesn't have a computer and this dick won't accept my bids.

My problem was with a stator plate and flywheel the seller didn't say anything was wrong untill I won the bids then he stated that the postage was wrong and it would cost a lot more , as the price that I had won the item for was so low (only bidder ) I think that was the scam for more $$$ . canceled the sale and left bad feedback . Found a reproduction part today that will do the job, its in Sydney at a similar price and I can get it picked up at no cost. I dont know why I even look at Ebay UK, the last thing I purchased over there were 3 magazines and the F-wit sent them to me using surface mail, it wasn't cheap and it took over 2 months for the bloody things to arrive.

Jim Provine for shipping goods on--yes i recommend him too as used him once to ship something here, [nz] can't recall what it was but might have been a DT1 gear set. There are cost involved but were quite reasonable & just great to have someone offer such a service when you don't know anyone in the usa. Thanks for putting the link up as i'd forgotten who it was. I feel a buying spree coming on!!

Looking to buy some cases from the USA. Postage was around $50 click on it to view comes up with 50% off sale and ask for a quote on postage. Asked for postage quote now it's $101 seller say as you are aware postage has gone up. Wonder how much postage will be when sale is off.

http://www.comgateway.com/ Set up a U.S. address with this mob and all your troubles are over. Shipping is reasonable and quick. They will also store items and pack multiple shipments into one package to save on costs. They have a minimum charge so not to good if your just buying a sparkplug.
