Gents,
I have a case of floppy lever and Viagra isn't going to help...
.. The kick starter on this old girl is pretty well worn out and I was wondering if anyone out there can advise of any options for repair ? I think it is a bit past simply fitting a brass bushing in to firm up the pin.
I have heard that a Honda TRX450 ATV kick starter works as it is a RHS forward kick mechanism. Is there any truth to this?
Thanks in advance for your advice

JK Racing U.K. do an ugly & expensive one http://jkracinguk.com/motocross-shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=41 I'ts hard to get a good second hand one though,I got a clevis pin from the bearing shop which was slightly larger diameter than the original & drilled out the holes to suit,It's all tight as a drum now,I have not used it yet though so am hoping there is still enough of the alloy left so as not to weaken it too much :)

That particular lever is used on the cr480's. Specifically the '83. I don't think the spline is the same on the 79.

Got a trx450 kickstarter on my 82 480, works well ,but does come very close to clutch cover. splines are different between 82/83 big bores and earlier 250`s. about to try 88 ktm 400 kick starter on my 79, splines are exactly the same.

Clutch it Mark ::)

I have seen the jkracing kick start but I thought it looked very industrial. There are a couple of vmx specialist stores working on prototypes but I don't think they will be ready any time soon.

Snowy, let me know if that 88 ktm lever works out. Can you still buy them or will that be a magic Ebay mission?
