looks good

Have you used the bike with those foot pegs yet?
I only ask because it might foul the last part of the kickstarter stroke, with those extentions to the back of the peg.
-
Yes they do but i use a 07 CRF 450 kicker works well. I've got to make a jig to do my decomp heads so it will be even better again
-
i like your engine holdder had two at a shop i worked at they were adjustable , one was for hondas and the other for suzuki they were made from solid bar very heavy but never moved
-
Just watch using the 450 kicker, Bill Nolan used one on his 84 500 and the extra load smashed out the casing, may not be an issue on the 87 but look simular.
The boy's did a nice job on the cases.
Looking good.

Looking Good HH. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it is finished. Is the front number plate an aftermarket or NOS ?
They are hard to find with the loop still on them.
Keep posting thos photos as you go 8)

Thanks guys, yep cases are great only $75 cash for blasting and powder coating. I don't think it would have been the 450 kicker that caused the cases to wreck 500cc will do that if there is wear in the kicker gear/cases also wrong kicking method. My decomp heads should fix that problem.Yep the engine holder is a good thing need to make it to do both sides of the cases.

G'day HH just wondering what you have in mind for the decompressor?
have you checked this forum out, it has shit loads of good info on it.

Only a warning HH, Bill has ridden 500's since they where new in 84 and is a motorcycle mechanic so no issue there, the new style 450 kickers (and I have 500's and new 450's so I can compare) throw out a lot further so more outwards leverage. if you stick the 2 side by side you will see. As I said it was an 84 model that are a little more straight up then the 87.
Only throwing this in based on experence.

A decompressor is the go. Less pressure on the kicker and easier to start. Talking about bill, I don't know how his Missus handles 130kg jumping all over her let alone a poor old kick starter :D

Where do you fit the decomp on a water cooled head with the water jackets running thru it?

The decomp head was to go on my AF 500 motor but it ended up on my mates 88 i built for him if you look close you can see it on the head. They are a bigger vershion of the ones found on chain saw etc.
