I remember you beating me to that RM 125S DG head for $40.00 by about 1 minute at CD3 Mike :-* I was so upset i bought a complete RM 125S then realised that we had to get it back to NZ ;D
We stripped it on site threw away the tyres cables etc and packed it into big holdalls and paid the excess baggage home ::) Those were the days :)

Finny you should mention packing into suitcases,
I am considering calling into arizona mikes and buying a bike, then striping it down and putting it into suitcases then bringing it back. maybe send the motor by freight. Is this possible?

I cant see why not ;D I would like to see the looks on the customs blokes face when he checks your bags ;D WTF
YOU have a sickness I reckon he may say ;D
If you can get a receipt to say all the parts are under a grand ,then you should not have to pay tax on it .but I might be wrong.
I brought an item from the states and it was over a grand through ebay and I had to pay tax on it ??? I didnt know this at the time but do now ;) If its under a grand there is know tax to pay through the post / ebay

Funny you say that, I do know a top new Zealand rider son Gavin O`Brien did exactly that the bike he shoved into a suit case was a 1993 Kawasaki kx 125 that he bought in USA. when he got home
he put it all together and raced it here in Victoria

Wow....that's worth more than a 77 cr 125 complete bike

It used to be an option and a few have done it, Dangerous Dave brought an 89 KX250 home from the US in his suitcase but times have changed.
I doubt they would let you bring a motor on the plane in carry on luggage anymore and they now charge exorbitant fees for the weight of your suitcases so I doubt it is economically viable anymore either.
Watch the customs show and see how many have to ditch some luggage to make the weight.
Although I’m not sure how many Kg's your allowed on an international flight nowadays.

Just came back from the US with Qantas and the weight limit was 46kgs per person, maximum of 2 suitcases per person @ 23 kgs each one.

The TM Bill legend was born that weekend Bill ;D. That was a funny Classic Dirt for sure. Geoff Ballard took a bike to the 6 Day as hand luggage a few years ago. Sadly, post 911 airline security has probably put an end to those tight arse situations.

I deliberately kept schtum about Lukes speculative pricing on his DG head because I didn't want to offend him but.......shit that's a lot of money for a rooted bit of aluminium :o. Back in 1994 I visited Vintage Iron in California and Doughty had a stack of unfinished DG extruded heads easily 3 metres high leaning against the wall of his warehouse . They just had to be drilled and machined to suit whatever 125 required it. I don't think he paid very much for them either, but I bet he got $100 +each for 'em.
