Yeah big bucks..! It made $24,000 in the first auction but nowhere near it since. I would've took the 24k and run!

Vintmxman while Yamaha 500 engined Aberg Replicas are desirable bikes, they don,t really go, don,t stop, don,t go around corners and are too top heavy, fun yes, good looking yes, race able not really.
The Honda version is a substantially better thing to ride in all categories, possibly not as good looking,
I would definitely consider a SP/DR/GN 400 engined version ( extremely rare) or a converted RM N/T usually referred to as a DRM.
These will prove to be the most competitive bike of this breed.
google RMH470 and have a look, to me the best looking of this class

Who said anything about racing it. ;D I am after a real HL500 for my collection. When I race, I have multiple weapons to choose from. The HL500 would not be one of them. For Static display only..

The C&J 500 Honda would be my pick withs its more compact engine than the TT,XT500 and SP,DR the suzukis have a huge high lump of a gear box.
most HL500 replicas have YZ DLS brakes fitted, they are the best DLS going around adjusted right ,I realise they were not org to the HL500 era.
but they do stop ???
the XT500,TT500 engines go to ??? yes may be a bit top heavy ;D with a 27 deg head angle they turn like a modern.

Paul whoever measured up the shocks for that bike should be blindfolded, lead into the desert and left. About the only thing it would do is saw the swingarm pivot in two. The HLs where a 76/77/78 design with about 10" travel. Why do people do that, how on earth would it possibly work even remorely well ??? ::) >:(

I currently own a c and j Honda 541.....it fun, it's fast, it's never lost a hole shot...a real Hal for display only is what I am after...I have plenty of race bikes...
-
and I've got one, so like I say..... what is the going rate?
-
If you are asking me what the going rate is, it's whatever someone is willing to pay for it....do you want to sell ? What are you asking. For it ?

and depends on condition, the prices have droped, from a few years back on vintage bikes.
but like you said vintmxman the big one is (whatever someone is willing to pay for one )
my guess would between 10-15k ???
-
24 and it is gone.
10 - 15, no point in selling it, it's not as if you are going to find another one in a hurry
-
There was a nice original NVT on Marks about a year ago. Asking $6000. I was amazed at this. Was it real?
Cheers, Grahame

Hey Dom/Vintmxman,
Seems you are a bit of a time waster. Making a name for yourself over numerous sites (vintage mx us & others )pretending to buy stuff, including my HL.
You wont sell anything to this .... (as we say in oz tyre kicker).
