There's a review of the Mk11 and the Mk11A 370 Frontera in the next issue of VMX.......if that's any help.  When you say '79 I'm assuming you're referring to the Mk11A - is it white?

Firstly ,check the engine/frame number. A 79 Frontera 370 should have a 215 prefix(214 for a 250) on the number, and it should be a blue coloured everything bike.Like anything, the last of the breed was always the best ! With that price tag you can't loose, especially with one on show in the next VMX mag. :)

Ken,I don't think too many Mk11A (white)models made it to Australia,if any.America only got a few. Bultaco were just about legs up by that stage. The white models had been softened up compared to the blue ones, smaller carb, bigger muffler and I think the power was also reduced. But I guess we'll have to wait for the mag to come out to see if my rant is true  ;D

Iain, they're a great bike. Grab it!  Superb handling. Steer beautifully. Lovely power if you like plenty. But very tall.

I used to own one & but for it being a bit tall for me (& I prefer 250s) I'd probably still own it.

Nice bike Iain, here's a 250 version but they look the same. An old club member of mine had one of these in the early 80's and it was a weapon, not quite as good as my Maico Magnum 400 but not far off.

We used to sell them in the early/mid 80's.   Occasionally I would take a trade-in out for a day in the desert or cowtailing up in the canyons.  Found them to be a nice tractible ride - more fun for that sort of thing than a MX bike of similar period.

Ok I went to see it today its a 370  matching eng and frame #s 215xxxx . and its got a compliance plate . No lights or tail light . lower frame rails are not flattened , weak spark , rusty spokes , needs new sprocket and chain , tank has a leak at the rear , good chrome on the forks rear shocks soso , It has the biggest ugliest muffler I have ever seen . Yes it did follow me home .  ::)

Well done with getting it and welcome to butaco ownership. I had a 1978 370 Frontera that I bought from Winston Stokes back in 1981, sold it about five years ago because I wasn't using it and have regreted it ever since.
