Title: Replacement ignition coils
Post by: ninjamk on January 22, 2013, 02:15:35 pm
I am look at replacing the ignition coils for both my ts250 and rv125.  Does anyone know of any good aftermarket ones with replaceable wires that work, or is it best to find a OEM NOS set?  After searching around I see a few 6v coils out there but dont know if they are compatible or not.  Thanks

the rv uses a magnito coil and the ts a cdi coil, ive seen a briggs and straton maggie coil on a rv and it worked fine.a victa coil would work as well.as for the ts250 any bike that uses a cdi system can be a coil donner.both bikes have 6 volt SEPERATE charging system for the battery to run blinkers/horn/taillight and brake lights only but nothing to do with ignitions, skools over ;D

Pit bike coils work fine

Thanks guys.  I was looking at this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2102-0029-Emgo-Universal-Ignition-Coil-6-12-volt-works-points-C-D-I-/170927082378?hash=item27cc0c4b8a&item=170927082378&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2102-0029-Emgo-Universal-Ignition-Coil-6-12-volt-works-points-C-D-I-/170927082378?hash=item27cc0c4b8a&item=170927082378&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr)

Its pretty cheap so im a little worried about it being junk.  Are there any other bikes that have coils that would be compatible?  I think its silly that Suzuki used coils with non replaceable wires.

since cdi ststems work on 100 plus volts it will be over driving the coil causeing early failure, even ballest coils on cars fail if not used with the 3volt dropping ballast.best to get the right coil for the system its  using eg cdi or magnito ignition and have trouble free biking, there around and on ebay
