Title: Oil for TM250
Post by: ninjamk on January 18, 2013, 05:09:52 pm
Hi Guys,
What oil are you guys running in your TMs with the cci oil pump.  I consulted my manual and it says to run a self mixing sae 30 2t oil.  I was thinking of running Maxima Super M, but there are two types, the premix type which is sae 30, and the injector type which is sae20.  Would I be best off running the premix type, even though im using the pump, since its sae 30.  The book also recommended Castrol r30, but I though you were only supposed to premix bean oil..  Im probably over thinking this, but I dont like to gamble.

The R30 is fine in your pump, just do not mix it with any mineral oil.
Use mineral injector pump oil as recommended . Cheers and great to see you have the lube pump in operation! ;)

I keep the pump for all my 2 strokes.  Every Suzuki that I have seen with a non working pump just needed to be primed.  So run oil specified for injector use, no matter what the viscosity is?

Thanks again.

Pardon my naivety, what is 'pump specific oil'?  (and brands/names).  asking as just finishing resto of an early TS/TM250 for dirt track racing.

Can run just about any 2T oil in a pump in our climate.

As Loz says most oils are fine..some specific ultra high performance 2 stroke oils such as the castor/synthetic blend Castrol A747 are not recommended for oil pumps and this is stated on the back of the bottles. If in doubt read the bottle ;)
