Title: YZ 125 non metel reeds
Post by: maico police on January 18, 2013, 11:44:59 am
Can anyone please tell me which was the first model YZ 125 to run non-metal reeds (I'm guessing about '83). I know the H is metal.
Thanks.  :)

The K motor I had, had fibre reeds.
So the change over is J or K (never owned a J, so NFI what they have).

For your H? Don't they still have the little reed block, and the K has the much larger one with six bolts?

Going off the search, it is four bolts as well. The 250 is six......

Ah, my brain is slowly getting back into gear now:
Yes, the Ks still had four bolts, but they are a much larger block than the earlier type. Seem to recall there being a difference in the shape too - maybe a curve on the top and bottom edges?

I can ramble all night about stuff I half remember...be worth checking the part number/diagram of reed block itself, and the gasket. If I'm right, the K reeds (and block) are way bigger.
