Title: KLX250 shocks
Post by: bishboy on January 17, 2013, 10:47:55 am: Just want confirm that the shock length for a 80/81 KLX250 is 460mm.

Would a set of 18 3/4" Ohlins off a 510 Husky fit given that they are 465mm long?

Are these only Ohlins easily rebuildable and a rough cost?

Post by: Graham on January 17, 2013, 04:08:45 pm: Mate Darran Brown runs a KLX 250 at Nudgee its got a set of ITC's off a Husky and hes happy with them, I have gone the same way with my KLX but its still in the build stage at present,mine came off a CR 500, 82 model, $ 146.00 landed ex the states,spent another,$86.00 rebuilding them very easy to get bits and easy to work on. ;D

Post by: cloggy on January 17, 2013, 09:31:27 pm: The ITC stroke is a couple of inches shorter. Kamar YSS in the UK are happy to build a set and Falcon have them on their spec list. Ohlins Red Rocket shocks work well at 17.5". That's what I have. I could change the shock mounts to take them out the extra 20mm but they work well as is and the stroke is about 5.5" I think the stroke of the original shocks is over 6", forgot exactly what.

Post by: The Stroker on January 18, 2013, 03:31:40 pm: I f you stil have the originals , get them rebuilt, should'nt cost ya more than $170. Mine cost me $150 a couple of years ago and they work fine, for vinduro work and the occasional lap or 2 of mx.

I've got two sets, and once the shafts were straightened I've got two serviceable shocks for my 2nd KLX.

Post by: Husabergpete on January 24, 2013, 09:32:03 pm: Boys I didn't think they were rebuildable either, same as early RM shocks that I had on my A and C models. I got a quote to cut them open and retro fit them so they were re build able but the cost was more than a new set of after market. I have a set of piggy back basic YSS on my KTM 1980 for the past 4 years no major issues - yet to leak or be rebuilt. I have Ohlins on my huskies. They have been good too.
