Title: kx 250 90 model kick start not engaging

any ideas why my kx 250 kick start isnt engaging,,it will work when its kocked slowly

If all the parts are there & in the correct place the spring behind the ratchet could be sacked out :)

im guessing the cogs are made off metal and not plastick....

Yeah,they are steel but could be worn,best to pull apart & check all bits for wear or damage & correct order of assembly of washers,spacers,springs etc :)

Hi Darren.
My 1983 KX250 did that - I picked up a new ratchet for it and it instantly fixed it.

They wear and the edges round off slightly over time which prevents a good "grab" of the ratchet assy.
