Hey Guys,
When I was racing 80's through to 250's back in the 80's and 90's the focus was pure competition, full on pressure, and win at all costs attitudes prevailed. I have to say that part of racing I don't miss.
Before I hit the track again this year, for the first time in 20 years, I was just wondering how competitive the VMX scene is here in NSW. Of course there will be some battles out there I am sure, but is the prevailing attitude fun or super competitive?
Ultimately I really just wanted to get back into racing to have fun and smell a bit of pre-mix in the morning ...
What are your thoughts?

In Heaven we have a full cross section of members from those wanting full on competition to riders that want to enjoy their old bike in safe club environment.
We are not racing for sheep stations although some of the trophies we give out must be real gold on occassions ;D and are all guys and gals that want to enjoy our classic dirt bikes, have a great weekend, have a laugh, let the 'red mist' descend to whatever degree we are comfortable with and be fit to get up for work, more retirement activity ;) or more play on Monday. The talk in the pits is usually a laugh about this pass or that jump not who won 8)
I can not assure you that you will not be sore in the joints on Monday although it is that 'good' sore that reminds you of the weekends ride ;)
Jeezus...... this is starting cross over into some sort of out of body experience I'll leave it there.
Suffice to say that you can be as serious or relaxed as you want. You are like the majority of Heaven members that want to recapture the good things from something past but not relive it if that makes sense
-
Both?
Even the really fast guys are entirely sociable.
On the track, everyone is doing the best they can, but there's absolutely minimal agro.
I think you'll find that everyone is entirely on your wavelength. :)
(This goes for both clubs, BTW)

Does Heaven have dates for this year?

Hi Jarrod,
Montynut forgot to mention HEAVEN VMX are having a free ride day / working bee on the 9th and 10th March at Buladelah. If you come you will get to sample the MX and Grass tracks and also the Vinduro loop.
Plenty of riding ( no racing ) on your vintage bike or a modern. You will get to meet the majority of members. Free camping Sat nite at the track
Cheers Ted

Thanks guys, sounds like I won't be too out of place then. Looking forward to it.
The Buladelah day sounds good. I went up to that track for a look at the last Heaven round last year - looked like a fun track.

What th........ FREE ride day????? the camping is free but riding is not the club still has to pay for permits, rider levies etc etc etc. Ride fee is normal ride fee for two days.
We are having a FREE working bee on Saturday morning of that weekend ;D ;) ;)
The full dates for Heaven 2013 are almost complete and finalised
-
I had to read that a couple of times
I gave Ted the benefit of the doubt and read "free" as in not racing

Once again Noel, You are right and Gregory is WRONG ::). Free as ride when you want.
However just as a thought, i think it would be good PR if any prospective new members were prepared to come along and pay the fee to ride that it should include membership for the year. What are we gonna lose....a wheelbarrow full of dirt. Just an idea

Thanks for posting Noel
I better get organized
Thanks again Paul
