Title: 1989 KX250 G1 Resto
Post by: Hardo on January 03, 2013, 02:08:03 pm
Here's some progress shots of my Pre-90 Retro beast.

This is how I bought it from Ando back in April....  she needed some TLC back then...    :P

And this is how it looks so far.... I added 2 or 3 new parts...   ;)  almost there!   ;D

It's perfect - don't do a thing. Those lightweight tyres especially - I might be able to beat you if you stick with them!
:D

PS: Nice work.

That looks incredible! well done to that man. Now we just need to get David McSwain (Vic. No. 1 from around that era ) out of retirement to ride one again...would be good to see him against Dean Burt and others.

Awesome job Hardo, you should try and come to some QVMX events this year...Conondale Classic and Echo Valley.....you wont feel out of place either...theres plenty of "Green" up here...I just scored on my Xmas road-trip a blue front number plate, tank and shrouds off a 89 500....there mint, look like they came off a pretty new Fink bike (got them in Whyalla)....well done again.

Few people have a gift for building bikes that are IMHO 11 out of 10 and Hardo is one of the few  8) The attention to detail is outstanding  :) looks better than they did when new , i had one and it never looked as good as that  :)

TM Bill - I have had your name favourably mentioned to me by a fellow VMX'er here in Sydney and I have a question for you.... PM has been sent.  :)

LOL Hugo....  yeah I know... I was blue/black with bruises the last time I chased Carl Blecher's CR500 up all the Lakes' uphills   ...

The backgrounds were by ebay seller motosportservices, or something like that (UK Seller). They do special orders with the numbers integrated into it.

Hardo,

Nice resto buddy. Can you tell me where did you get the blue plastics from? They give the bike a really nice finish. Well Done.

Gibo.

Mate - I got the plastics from here...  (thanks to cyclegod !   :) )

If you search his other items there's pink, purple and all sorts of weird stuff for sale !!

See Ando - SOME of us like those blue side covers....   :P

great resto , I think I can make a bike look good but I would struggle to get one up to that standard . The '89 KX250 is an awesome bike & would be my pick as a pre 90 race bike

The bike looks great, I'm just about to start on an '88 model, I don't intend on the cosmetics being as good as yours.
