For way too long these old big bore Yamahas have been slagged as shitboxes by a lot of folks who've probably never ridden one. The truth is that the MX360 is a victim of some unfair magazine coverage in their day. The MX is a tad heavy for sure but that's overridden by it's brilliant engine that can easily be made into a truly competitive open class racer with little serious financial outlay. It only needs a little bit of intelligent fiddling in the right places (reeds, ignition, pipe) to be up there with the best engine in the class. The chassis only needs decent shocks and cartridge emulators in the forks to show great improvements. This example looks to be an unmolested virgin with all of it's original equipment still intact. If the photos are a true indication it's a bike that's probably too good to restore, only needing a strip, polish and reassembly makeover. At $1600 it's a decent buy, the only snag is getting it to California to ship from Michigan, a long journey.

This is a good running complete 1973 Yamaha MX360. The bike is still on standard bore! Matching serial #365 007478. Starts in a couple of kicks and runs, shifts and stops as it should. The Takasago rims are in good shape with no broken spokes. Looks like the original rear sprocket. The handlebars are straight. The tank is clean with just a couple very small dents. The premix oiler is still intact and the oil tank has been removed but I have it.
It shows 120lbs of compression on the cylinder. The piston is no longer within specs and should be replaced if you plan on racing AHRMA.
$1,400.00
I could freshen up the topend if desired for an additional $150.00-$200.00
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions.
