Title: Help with Mikuni needle jets - KX250A5
Post by: John Orchard on December 28, 2012, 04:52:27 pm
Hey Guy's, I tried ordering a new needle jet for the stock VM38SS Mikuni on my KX250A5, the stock size is R-2, all the catalogues that I've looked at say the type is '166' as opposed to the 159's that smaller VM's run.  I received a couple of 166 needle jets but they are miles too short.  The number on the jet in the carb is '283' but no listings mention it at all.

The VM38 uses round head (reverse) jets which have a slightly different thread to the hex/159 jet/needle jet.  Anyone got any idea where I can get an R-0 & R-2 to suit my VM38 ?

You'll be able to get needle jets from T.D. Hatrick in Townsville, they are the Aussie importers. Just tell them the series (166) and that it uses round jets, they have a huge supply of Mikuni parts.

Yeh I have Brent, thanks.  These must be Kawasaki only needle jets, they look like needle jets out of a TM38 carb; I'll get one and compare.  The stamped number doesn't show-up anywhere.

I just checked and my kx250a5 has a 283 series needle jet, if TD Hatrick don't have them the only option will be to go genuine but the parts supply is not good..
